Motorola confirmed what had been expected for weeks: a new MOTOBLUR handset was headed for T-Mobile. Officially dubbed the CHARM, it was the first device in the United States to ship with the new version of MOTOBLUR. Features included a 2.8-inch touchscreen, a full QWERTY keyboard, and the BACKTRACK navigation pad on the back of the handset. Much like on the Backflip, the rear pad allowed for an unobstructed view of the screen during browsing, texting, and gaming. Other features included Adobe Flash Lite, a 3-megapixel camera, pinch zooming, multi-touch, and corporate email support.
The Android 2.1-powered CHARM was due that summer, with pricing reported at $75 after rebate or potentially free as part of back-to-school promotions.
Key features from the official announcement:
- Adobe Flash-enabled web browsing
- Full Google services: Search, Maps, Gmail, and Android Market
