AT&T’s first high-end Android phone, the Samsung Captivate, was confirmed for a July 18th launch at $200 — no mail-in rebates, no gift cards. That’s the out-of-pocket price.
The Android 2.1-powered Captivate featured a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 5-megapixel camera, 16GB of on-board storage, and support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
This marked the second of the four US Galaxy S variants to receive a firm launch date and price. T-Mobile’s Vibrant was set to arrive just days later, with nearly identical hardware.
