At CES 2011, Samsung Mobile announced three brand new 4G LTE devices, all for the Verizon Wireless network. Verizon was touting up to 10x faster speeds than their current 3G service and planned to cover the same area with their 4G network within three years.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4G LTE
A 4G LTE-enabled version of the 7-inch Galaxy Tab, running Android 2.2 Froyo with a 1.2GHz Hummingbird CPU and a WSVGA (1024×600) TFT display. Users also had access to Samsung’s Media Hub for premium movie and TV content.
Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone (unnamed)
An unnamed 4G LTE smartphone running Android 2.2 with a 4.3-inch screen, front-facing 1.3MP and rear-facing 8MP cameras, an LED flash, and live video streaming capability over LTE. Also included Samsung’s Media Hub.
4G LTE Mobile Hotspot
A mobile hotspot supporting download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps in 4G coverage areas, backwards compatible with Verizon’s 3G network, and capable of connecting up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously.
