XREAL One Series AR Glasses Boast New X1 Chip, Wider FOV, and Enhanced Customization

XREAL has announced its most advanced line of augmented reality (AR) glasses yet, the XREAL One Series, featuring the company’s first custom silicon chip, the X1. The new glasses offer a native three degrees-of-freedom (3DoF) spatial display directly from the glasses themselves, removing the reliance on external hardware for spatial computing. Available in two models, XREAL One and XREAL One Pro, this release marks a significant update to XREAL’s wearable AR technology.

X1 Chip Powers Next-Gen AR Experience

At the heart of the XREAL One Series is the X1 chip, a co-processor designed exclusively for optical see-through (OST) AR glasses. The chip’s capabilities enable the glasses to create a fully customizable, cinematic virtual display from nearly any device connected via USB-C.

Introducing the X1 Chip

Devices like iPhones, Android phones, Windows PCs, MacBooks, and even gaming consoles like the Steam Deck can utilize the X1’s spatial computing to generate a crisp, low-latency screen anchored in space. The system’s motion-to-photon (M2P) latency clocks in at just 3 milliseconds at a refresh rate of 120Hz, significantly surpassing industry norms.

Visual Enhancements and Customization

XREAL One and XREAL One Pro offer improved optical performance with wider fields of view (FOV) and enhanced image clarity. The XREAL One features a 50-degree FOV and utilizes a birdbath-style lens system. Meanwhile, the XREAL One Pro introduces a flat-prism lens design that achieves a wider 57-degree FOV, a first in the category.

The XREAL One Pro’s frame is just 11mm thick, making it 40.9% thinner than previous models. Both models support customizable interpupillary distance (IPD) options—software-based for XREAL One and multiple size options for XREAL One Pro—to provide a more comfortable, tailored fit for users with varying eye distances.

Refined Design and Comfort Features

Both models sport a lightweight magnesium alloy front shell for increased durability and better heat dissipation. The weight distribution has been optimized to reduce nose bridge pressure, and nylon hinges contribute to a lighter overall frame. XREAL One weighs 84 grams, while XREAL One Pro weighs 87 grams, offering wearers long-term comfort.

Certified Eye Comfort and Advanced Display Control

XREAL One Series introduces TÜV Rheinland certifications for High Visibility and Eye Comfort (5-Star), adding protection from blue light and flicker. The electrochromic dimming system allows users to control lens opacity with a button press, adjusting brightness levels to suit different environments. Customization options include screen size, brightness, distance, stabilizer, and 2D/3D display modes, all accessible directly from the glasses—no need to navigate device menus.

XREAL One vs. XREAL One Pro

  1. Field of View (FOV): XREAL One has a 50-degree FOV, while the XREAL One Pro offers a 57-degree FOV, providing a larger display area.
  2. Optical Design: XREAL One uses a birdbath-style lens system, whereas XREAL One Pro features an innovative flat-prism lens design, resulting in a thinner frame.
  3. Frame Thickness: The XREAL One Pro is 11mm thick, 40.9% thinner than previous models, while XREAL One maintains a more traditional frame design.
  4. Interpupillary Distance (IPD) Options: XREAL One has software-based adjustable IPD, while XREAL One Pro offers two physical IPD size options (57-66mm and 66-75mm) for a more precise fit.
  5. Weight: XREAL One weighs 84 grams, and XREAL One Pro weighs 87 grams due to the advanced lens and customization features.
  6. Display Customization: Both models support display adjustments like screen size, brightness, and stabilizer settings, but the XREAL One Pro offers greater flexibility in physical fit with its multiple IPD sizes.
XREAL One Series Featuring Sound by Bose

Audio Experience Powered by Bose

Audio in the XREAL One Series is driven by Sound by Bose. The system’s fine-tuned drivers provide rich, clear sound across mid-to-high frequencies, creating a more immersive AR experience for media, calls, and gaming. The four-microphone setup with near-field and far-field capture ensures clear audio input for voice commands, recordings, and transcriptions.

Introducing the XREAL Eye Camera

An optional add-on for the XREAL One Series is the XREAL Eye, a detachable 12MP RGB camera. It supports photo and video capture at up to 1080p at 60fps, offering users the ability to capture first-person footage from their perspective. The XREAL Eye is positioned at the bridge of the glasses, and future software updates will enable AI-driven image recognition and voice command functionality.

Pricing and Availability

The XREAL One is available for $499 USD, while the XREAL One Pro is priced at $599 USD. Orders can be placed on XREAL’s website and Amazon store, with shipping for XREAL One beginning mid-December 2024 and XREAL One Pro expected to ship in early 2025. Bundles with the XREAL Beam Pro will also be available.
