SoildTech, a hard-tech startup incubated by Shenzhen InnoX Academy, is preparing to showcase its redesigned flagship product, PlantSenso, at IFA Berlin 2026.
Scheduled for September 4–8 at Messe Berlin, the event will give visitors a closer look at PlantSenso, a standalone smart plant companion designed to turn routine plant maintenance into an interactive, game-like experience.
Rather than presenting users with complicated charts, technical measurements, and lengthy maintenance routines, PlantSenso takes inspiration from virtual pets such as Tamagotchi. The goal is to make caring for plants more approachable, social, and enjoyable, particularly for beginners, Gen Z users, and millennial families.
Plant Care Meets Gamification
PlantSenso is built around the idea that looking after a plant should feel less like managing a technical device and more like interacting with a companion.
The companion app features a personified Plant Social Feed, where plants can communicate through messages such as “I’m thirsty!” Pixel-art characters and interactive scenes add another layer of engagement.
Users can complete daily plant-care activities to restore their plant’s virtual home planet, unlock new environments, and help characters evolve. This approach is intended to encourage consistent plant-care habits without overwhelming users with technical information.
NFC Makes Plant Care More Interactive
One of PlantSenso’s key features is its NFC-powered tap-to-play ecosystem.
Users can tap compatible accessories, including automatic watering devices, plant-food pods, and grow lights, to record care activities instantly. These interactions can trigger in-game milestones, collectible digital postcards, and rarity badges classified as Common, Rare, or Legendary.
NFC also allows users to create a plant profile through an “Adoption” process. This can be used when acquiring a plant from a nursery or visiting a friend’s home, with the company positioning the feature as a way to avoid complicated setup procedures.
Designed to Go Beyond the Home
SoildTech has redesigned PlantSenso with portability in mind. An integrated hanging clip at the top allows users to attach the device to a keychain or backpack, making it easier to carry and keep visible throughout the day.
The lightweight companion contains a 1,000mAh battery that can provide up to 21 days of continuous operation. Charging is supported through both magnetic charging and USB-C.
Built-In Social Sharing
PlantSenso also incorporates social features designed to make plant ownership more shareable.
Through the companion app, users can create story-style posts and digital memory journals with a single tap. Care milestones, achievements, and collectible badges can then be shared through social media, turning individual plant-care progress into content that friends and family can follow.
Growing Interest Ahead of IFA
SoildTech says PlantSenso has generated significant attention ahead of its IFA appearance, with the company reporting more than 7.8 million social media impressions and over 220,000 cumulative likes.
The product has also reportedly attracted coverage from more than 70 media outlets, including MacRumors, Engadget, and Yahoo News. SoildTech says technology creator @hopebellee, who has more than 400,000 followers, and YouTube creator Cyrus Janssen, who has more than 1 million subscribers, have also endorsed the product.
The company further says former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and world champion boxer Zhang Weili have learned about PlantSenso and expressed interest in its technology.
Building a Community Around PlantSenso
Beyond media and creator attention, SoildTech reports that its online community has continued to grow. The company says its website attracted more than 8,000 visitors, while its core community has surpassed 2,000 active subscribers.
Among users who prepaid for the product, SoildTech reports a 20 percent conversion rate, highlighting what the company describes as strong early engagement with its plant-care concept.
