Motorola and Verizon announced three new DROID RAZR models at an event in New York. All three ran Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a Jelly Bean update confirmed by end of 2012, included Chrome as the default browser, and supported 4G LTE.
The DROID RAZR M launched September 13th at $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Its standout feature was an edge-to-edge 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display in a body significantly shorter and narrower than the original RAZR, making it the most compact 4.3-inch 4G LTE smartphone at the time.
The DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD were set for release before the holidays. Both featured a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video, NFC, Gorilla Glass, Kevlar construction, water-repellent nanocoating, microSD to 32GB, and Mobile Hotspot for up to 8 devices. The RAZR HD came with a 2500mAh battery; the RAZR MAXX HD packed a larger cell rated at 32 hours of mixed use and 21 hours of talk time. The RAZR HD was available in black or white; the RAZR MAXX HD in black only.
