Boost Mobile announced the Samsung Replenish, launching January 16th at $99.99 as the first Android smartphone on the carrier’s network for under $100. Initially offered by Sprint the prior spring, the Replenish brought a portrait QWERTY keyboard and eco-friendly build to Boost’s no-contract lineup. The partial recycled plastic casing and included Buyback program for trading in old devices gave it a green angle that stood out at the time.
Specs included Android 2.3, a 2.8-inch touchscreen with QWERTY keyboard, a 2-megapixel camera with video, GPS, stereo Bluetooth, and Mobile ID packs for personalizing the experience. Available through Boost exclusive retail locations, select independent dealers, and online with free shipping, and in additional national retailers by end of February.
The phone worked with Boost’s $55/month Android Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage plan, which dropped $5 every six on-time payments, eventually reaching $40/month. The new Buyback Program allowed customers to trade in their old device for an account credit or recycle it at no cost.
