Debunking Commonly Believed Roulette Myths

Roulette is one of the most popular games in the world of gambling. People love it so much, that both land-based and online casinos have begun using the wheel as a symbol of their brand. However, with such a massive popularity, comes a pretty big downside.

Players and non-players alike form certain opinions about the game, which then worm themselves into popular culture. This is why there are a ton of roulette myths that one could easily debunk, if they only did some research. In this article, we’d like to debunk some roulette myths.

You Can’t Play Online

A surprisingly popular myth that still permeates to this day is that roulette is impossible to play online. Well, we are happy to inform you that this is not the case. In fact, roulette is one of the most popular casino games, played online by thousands, if not tens of thousands of fans.

With the growing popularity of livestreaming technology, live-dealer roulette is also becoming more popular. Dealers can actually broadcast themselves, in real time, spinning a roulette wheel, and letting customers bet on the outcome from a text chat.

Strategies Work

Most people understand that casino games are, for the most part, luck-based. Even those that do require a bit of strategy, like blackjack and poker, are, at the end of the day, reliant on luck for a good hand. The same is true for roulette.

However, for some reason, people have convinced themselves that roulette is a strategy-based game, and are doing their best to formulate winning strategies. Unfortunately, it is impossible. No amount of strategizing is going to help you win a roulette spin.

If you don’t believe us, maybe you can take it from one of the smartest people in history, Albert Einstein, who famously said that the only way to win at roulette is to snatch the cash while nobody is looking. That being said, betting strategies are quite common and popular among a lot of gamblers.

Betting Strategies Always Work

Unfortunately, the popularity of betting strategies has created its own little problem. That being that a lot of people are convinced that they always work. Sadly, betting strategies do not have any impact on the outcome of a game, and may not be as effective as some want them to be.

For one, newbies can often fall into the trap of not realizing when to stop. They will bet until they’ve wagered their entire bankroll, which leads to frustration. That is why, we would recommend placing a limit on how much you wager, even or rather especially, when you are employing a progressive betting strategy.

Previous Spins Affect Future Ones

Finally, we’d like to end on a brief note. A lot of people believe that a spin can affect any future spins. For example, if the wheel lands on a black slot, then the next roll must be red. Though this is a common belief, there is absolutely no evidence to back this up.

Roulette, like most games, is random. Each new spin resets the possibility, meaning it is just as possible for there to be three 17 blacks in a row, as any other result. Keep that in mind the next time you are playing roulette, online or offline.
