Motorola’s new moto buds ultra 27 are aimed at listeners who want premium sound, noise cancellation and a few phone-friendly tricks without carrying another gadget. The wireless earbuds combine Sound by Bose tuning, active noise cancellation and AI-assisted translation on compatible Motorola phones.
Motorola says the earbuds will reach the United States in the coming months, although it hasn’t announced a U.S. price or a firm release date. That leaves the value question open for now, but the hardware and software features give buyers plenty to consider.
Sound by Bose and Two Drivers Per Earbud
Each earbud combines an 11mm dynamic driver with a balanced-armature driver, splitting the work of reproducing lower and higher frequencies. Motorola describes the audio tuning as Bose SoundDesign, with Bose QuietControl active noise cancellation intended to reduce background noise on commutes, flights and other busy outings.
Hi-Res Audio support is included, though the benefit will depend on the source audio, connection and compatible devices. On supported Motorola smartphones, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Head Tracking can add spatial effects that respond to head movement. Those features are worth distinguishing from ordinary stereo playback, since not every connected phone will support the same experience.
Translation, Gestures and Device Switching
With a compatible Motorola phone, AI Live Translate can send translated speech directly to the earbuds. It’s a useful idea for travel or multilingual conversations, although users should still verify important translations rather than treating an AI interpretation as infallible.
Motorola also says a long press on the left earbud can call up its Qira assistant. A hands-free “Hey Qira” wake phrase is planned for a later update and should not be considered a launch feature.
Other conveniences include head gestures for answering or declining calls, wear detection that pauses audio when an earbud is removed, dual-device connection and Audio Share for listening with another compatible pair. These are the sorts of small features that matter when switching between a work laptop and a personal phone throughout the day.

Battery, Calls and Everyday Durability
Motorola rates the earbuds for up to eight hours of listening on a charge and up to 37 hours with the charging case. Actual endurance will vary with volume, noise cancellation and other settings. Wireless charging is supported.
For calls, each earbud uses three microphones and a dedicated voice pickup unit. An IP57 rating provides resistance to dust and temporary immersion under specified test conditions, but it doesn’t make the earbuds suitable for every water activity. The Moto Buds app is available for Android and iOS, and Motorola highlights Google Find Hub support for locating misplaced accessories.
Motorola’s broader audio range includes the moto buds 2 and buds 2 plus, previously covered by AndroidGuys. The ultra 27 aims higher with its Bose collaboration and expanded smart features, though its eventual U.S. pricing will determine how closely it competes with established premium earbuds.
U.S. Availability
Motorola has not provided a U.S. price or exact launch date for the moto buds ultra 27. More specifications and regional availability details are expected as launch approaches. The company has shared further information through its official product announcement.
