Wyze has announced the Wyze Solar Cam, a wire-free outdoor security camera that combines 2K video recording, color night vision, and solar charging in a $69.98 package. The camera arrives as part of Wyze Week, offering homeowners a way to monitor their property without running electrical wiring or regularly removing batteries for charging.
The package includes a 5200mAh rechargeable battery and a 1.77W solar panel. According to Wyze, just one hour of direct sunlight per day is enough to maintain the battery’s charge under regular usage conditions.
Flexible Installation With Solar Power
The Wyze Solar Cam is designed for quick installation, with Bluetooth pairing and a slide-and-click mounting bracket. Wyze estimates setup takes around five minutes, assuming everything goes according to plan.

The solar panel can share a mounting bracket with the camera or sit up to 10 feet away using the included extension cable. That flexibility should help homeowners position the camera where surveillance makes sense and place the panel where sunlight is more reliable.
The camera carries an IP65 weather-resistance rating and operates in temperatures ranging from -4°F to 122°F, making it suitable for year-round outdoor installation.
2K Video, Color Night Vision, and Smart Alerts
The Wyze Solar Cam records at 2304 x 1296 resolution, with a 130-degree field of view and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) to balance bright and shaded areas.
A starlight sensor provides color night vision in low-light conditions, with infrared available for complete darkness. There’s a built-in 100-lumen motion spotlight and siren for additional security.
Motion detection and thumbnail notifications are available without a subscription. Customers interested in more detailed alerts for pets, packages, and vehicles can subscribe to Wyze Cam Plus.

Local recording is supported through a microSD card up to 256GB, sold separately. Wyze says the camera can store months of motion events locally, depending on usage and storage capacity. Continuous 24/7 recording is supported in AC-powered mode, rather than through the standard solar-powered configuration.
Wi-Fi 6 router compatibility is included, and users can view live footage through the Wyze app.
Pricing and Availability
The Wyze Solar Cam is available for $69.98 through Wyze’s website. Customers who don’t need solar charging can purchase the standalone camera for $59.98.
The $10 difference makes the solar package an attractive option for installations where regular charging would be inconvenient, particularly cameras mounted high on exterior walls.
The announcement is part of Wyze Week, running October 19–23, with three product launches planned during the event. More information about the camera and other announcements can be found at Wyze.com.
