Wyze has introduced a new indoor security camera designed to provide broader room coverage without the cost typically associated with advanced pan-and-tilt systems.
The Wyze Indoor Cam Pan features a motorized base capable of rotating 360 degrees horizontally, along with a 103-degree vertical tilt range. Its AI-powered motion tracking system can automatically follow activity around a room, helping users monitor areas that would normally fall outside the view of a fixed camera.
The camera is designed for homeowners who want comprehensive indoor surveillance while keeping both hardware and subscription costs under control.
AI Tracking Helps Follow Activity
Instead of leaving users with a stationary view, the Indoor Cam Pan can automatically track movement detected within its field of view. The system is designed to distinguish meaningful activity from common sources of motion, helping reduce unnecessary alerts.
Users can also configure up to four custom waypoints through the Wyze app. The camera can then move between those locations to keep important areas of a room under regular observation.
Detection zones can also be customized, allowing users to specify areas that should be monitored while excluding sections that regularly produce false alerts.
2K Video and Night Vision
The camera records in 2K resolution, providing greater detail than standard HD security cameras. Video is captured at up to 20 frames per second during the day and 15 frames per second at night.
For nighttime monitoring, Wyze has equipped the camera with 940nm infrared LEDs. The system provides what Wyze describes as invisible IR night vision, allowing the camera to see in dark rooms without the noticeable red glow produced by some traditional infrared cameras.
Physical Privacy Protection
Privacy is another major feature of the new camera. When privacy mode is enabled, the lens physically retracts into the camera housing, covering the lens rather than relying solely on software controls.
When privacy mode is disabled, the lens returns to its previous position, allowing monitoring to resume.
Quiet Movement for Homes and Offices
Wyze has also focused on reducing the mechanical noise generated by the camera’s movement. Its pan-and-tilt mechanism is designed to operate quietly, making the Indoor Cam Pan suitable for bedrooms, nurseries and areas where pets or children may be easily disturbed.
Local Recording Without a Cloud Subscription
One of the camera’s biggest advantages is its support for continuous local recording. An integrated microSD card slot supports storage capacities of up to 512GB, allowing users to save and review footage locally.
This gives customers an alternative to relying entirely on cloud storage subscriptions for historical video.
The camera also includes two-way audio and a built-in 95dB siren. Through the microphone and speaker, users can communicate remotely with people in the room, while the siren can be activated manually when needed.
Works With Alexa and Google Assistant
The Wyze Indoor Cam Pan can integrate with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing compatible smart displays to show the camera’s live feed.
The camera is also compatible with Wyze’s Cam Plus and Cam Unlimited plans. Subscribers can access additional Wyze Intelligence capabilities, including Descriptive Alerts that provide brief summaries of detected motion and sound events instead of generic notifications.
Designed to Eliminate Blind Spots
With its combination of motorized movement, customizable viewing points and AI-based tracking, the Indoor Cam Pan is designed to cover considerably more of a room than a conventional fixed-lens camera.
The approach could appeal to users who want to monitor multiple areas without purchasing several stationary cameras.
Pricing and Availability
The Wyze Indoor Cam Pan goes on sale August 25, 2026, for $39.98 through Wyze’s website. Its combination of 2K video, 360-degree movement, local recording and AI-powered tracking positions it as a budget-oriented option for consumers seeking more comprehensive indoor security.
