Google has officially begun rolling out Wear OS 7 to eligible Pixel Watch devices, bringing a collection of new features aimed at making smartwatches more useful throughout the day. The update focuses on real-time information, deeper device integration, upcoming Gemini-powered experiences, and improved battery efficiency.
According to Google, more than half of Wear OS users wear their watches every day of the week, with many keeping them on for more than 23 hours per day. Wear OS 7 is designed around that always-on lifestyle, adding features that help users stay informed and connected without constantly reaching for their phones.
Live Updates Bring Real-Time Information to the Wrist
One of the headline additions in Wear OS 7 is support for Android Live Updates. The feature delivers glanceable, real-time information directly on the watch face and throughout the system.
Examples include tracking sports scores, monitoring food delivery progress, or keeping an eye on workout metrics as they happen. Rather than opening multiple apps, users can quickly check the status of ongoing activities right from their wrist.

The feature mirrors Google’s broader push to surface timely information across Android devices, turning the smartwatch into a compact command center for daily activities.
Better Connections Across Devices
Wear OS 7 has been built with a stronger focus on connected devices, particularly wearables and accessories that work alongside a smartwatch.
Google says the platform will work more closely with products such as wireless earbuds and upcoming intelligent eyewear scheduled to launch later this year. One example highlighted by the company involves taking a photo with smart glasses and immediately viewing the image on a connected smartwatch.
Media controls are receiving attention as well. Users can manage playback across multiple devices, including headphones and smart speakers, and switch audio output between devices directly from the watch through a media output switcher.
For anyone juggling earbuds, speakers, and other connected gadgets throughout the day, the update aims to reduce the number of taps required to keep everything in sync.
Gemini Intelligence Features Coming Later This Year
Google confirmed that select Wear OS 7 devices will receive Gemini Intelligence features later in 2026.
Among the planned additions is Create My Widget, a feature that allows users to build customized watch dashboards using natural language prompts. Gemini will also introduce multi-step app automation capabilities, allowing tasks to be completed directly from the watch.

Google’s examples include reserving a preferred bike in a spin class or placing a regular restaurant order without manually navigating multiple apps.
The company is also bringing its Neural Expressive design language to Wear OS alongside Personal Intelligence features. These tools will draw from Google services such as Gmail, Search, and chat history to provide more personalized suggestions and recommendations.
More Features Without Sacrificing Battery Life
New features often come with concerns about battery life, especially on devices that spend most of the day strapped to a wrist. Google says Wear OS 7 includes deep system-level power optimizations that help offset the additional functionality.
Users upgrading from Wear OS 6 can expect an average battery life improvement of up to 10%, according to Google.
Wear OS 7 is rolling out to eligible Pixel Watch devices starting today, with Gemini Intelligence features scheduled to arrive on select supported devices later this year. More details about the update can be found through Google’s official Wear OS announcement.
