TerraMaster F4-425 Brings 4K Streaming, AI Photo Sorting, and 120TB Capacity to the Living Room

TerraMaster has announced the F4-425, its latest 4-bay network-attached storage (NAS) system designed for home users who need serious horsepower and storage flexibility. The device marks a sharp departure from the company’s ARM-based lineup, instead running on an Intel x86 quad-core processor that promises up to 40% better performance compared with earlier ARM-powered models like the F4-212.

Built for Performance and Streaming

At its core, the F4-425 runs on an Intel Celeron N5095 processor paired with 4GB of DDR4 RAM, offering enough muscle to handle video editing, 4K encoding, or multiple users accessing files at once. A 2.5GbE network port keeps data flowing smoothly, with faster file transfers and reliable access across a household.

For home theater enthusiasts, the NAS supports hardware-level 4K H.265 decoding and works with media platforms including Plex, Emby, and Jellyfin. That means users can stream movies or shows directly to devices like Roku, Apple TV, or smart TVs without bogging down performance.

Smarter Photo and Media Management

The F4-425 doesn’t just store files for you like some passive cloud. Rather, it actively helps organize them, too. TerraPhotos, the brand’s AI-powered smart album tool, automatically sorts photos by faces, pets, and scenes, cutting down on the hassle of manually tagging or arranging large media collections.

Massive Storage and Flexible Protection

With support for up to 120TB across four 30TB drives, the F4-425 has space to spare for everything from family photo libraries to raw video projects. TerraMaster’s TRAID system adds efficiency, squeezing up to 30% more usable storage than traditional RAID setups while still preserving data redundancy.

On the security front, the NAS offers multiple safeguards, including SPC settings, 256-bit TLS encryption, TFSS snapshots, and support for syncing with popular cloud platforms like Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox.

Quiet, Easy to Use, and Mobile-Friendly

Noise can be a dealbreaker for home setups, but the F4-425 runs at just 21dB(A), quieter than a whisper, or at least quieter than a roommate crunching on chips during a late-night stream. Its Push-Lock design lets users install drives without tools in about 10 seconds.

The TNAS Mobile app simplifies setup by eliminating the need for a PC. It also enables automatic backup of photos and videos from a smartphone, plus remote file access. TerraSync adds another layer, offering near real-time syncing with up to 32 versions of file recovery available.

Pricing and Availability

The TerraMaster F4-425 4-Bay NAS is available now on Amazon UK for £369.99 and Amazon USA for $369.99. At launch, buyers can apply a 10% coupon to bring the price down to £332.99 or $332.99.
