Samsung and Verizon officially announced the Continuum, an exclusive Galaxy S variant with a distinctive dual-screen design. The main display measured 3.4 inches while a dedicated 1.8-inch ticker display below it streamed real-time notifications, RSS feeds, weather, social networking updates, and music controls without interrupting whatever was on the primary screen. A grip sensor on the sides would light up the ticker when the phone was picked up.
Under the hood the Continuum matched the Fascinate: 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 5-megapixel camera with HD video, 8GB microSD card, Android 2.1 with Bing Search and Maps preloaded, 3G Mobile Hotspot for up to five devices, and Samsung’s Social Hub for unified messaging. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Stereo Bluetooth, and Exchange ActiveSync were also included.
Pre-sale began November 11, with full in-store availability on November 18, at $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year agreement.
