RugOne is taking a different approach to the rugged smartphone at IFA 2026. The Xsnap 7 Pro pairs a heavy-duty Android phone with a detachable 2.7K action camera that can leave the handset behind when the shot calls for a better angle.
The outdoor-focused brand, backed by Ulefone, describes the Xsnap 7 Pro as the world’s first rugged smartphone with a detachable professional action camera. RugOne first showed the concept at MWC in March, and the production model arrives at IFA with finalized specifications, pricing, and availability.
The Camera Pops Off And Keeps Recording
The Xsnap 7 Pro’s main trick is a 39-gram magnetic camera module that can remain attached to the phone or detach for standalone use.
It records at up to 2.7K resolution at 30 frames per second with a 133-degree field of view. RugOne includes SteadyX stabilization and Horizon Lock, which are designed to keep footage steadier and level during movement.
The module is waterproof to five meters without a separate housing. It can be worn using RugOne’s Magnet Pendant, attached to universal mounts, or placed back on the phone for more conventional handheld shooting.
That flexibility gives the Xsnap 7 Pro a use case closer to a phone-and-action-camera combo than a typical rugged handset. Hiking, cycling, travel, outdoor work, and sports are obvious fits, particularly when holding a full-size phone would get in the way.
Detached from the handset, the camera can record for up to 40 minutes per charge and includes 64GB of onboard storage. The phone can recharge it up to 20 times from its 9,300mAh battery, which RugOne says allows for as much as 800 minutes of total recording.
A charging dock and lens cap come in the package.
The Phone Is Built For Rougher Conditions
Underneath the modular camera setup is a fairly serious rugged phone. The Xsnap 7 Pro has a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,700 nits. A MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G processor sits inside alongside 12GB of LPDDR5X memory and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
Its 9,300mAh battery supports 45W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
RugOne rates the phone for IP68 and IP69K protection and says it has been tested using MIL-STD-810H methods. It is designed to survive 1.5-meter drops onto concrete and operation in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 55°C.
The rest of the camera system includes a 50-megapixel main camera with optical and electronic stabilization, a 64-megapixel infrared night-vision camera, and a 32-megapixel front camera.
Android 16 And Pricing
The Xsnap 7 Pro ships with Android 16, with RugOne promising upgrades through Android 20. Google Gemini is integrated alongside features such as Circle to Search, real-time translation, call summaries, AI writing tools, and handwriting math recognition.
Early-bird Kickstarter sales are scheduled to begin September 7, with limited super early-bird pricing starting at €799.
Wider retail availability is planned for October through Amazon, RugOne’s online store, and local retailers. Pricing is set at $999 in the United States and €1,099.99 in Europe. More details can be found at rugone.net.
