Reolink has launched the Home Hub 2, a next-generation security hub designed to make managing home surveillance footage easier through on-device artificial intelligence, expandable local storage, and centralized camera controls.
Unveiled at IFA 2026, the Home Hub 2 brings Reolink’s ReoNeura AI technology to its home security ecosystem. The device introduces Local AI Video Search, allowing users to find relevant moments in recorded footage using simple keywords instead of manually reviewing hours of video.
The hub also supports a 2.5-inch hard disk drive (HDD) or solid-state drive (SSD), along with a microSD card, giving users additional local storage options without requiring a cloud subscription. It can manage up to eight compatible Reolink cameras from a central location.
Local AI Video Search Makes Security Footage Easier to Find
One of the Home Hub 2’s main features is Local AI Video Search, powered by Reolink’s ReoNeura on-device AI engine.
The feature allows users to search locally stored recordings across connected cameras using keywords. Rather than scrolling through long playback timelines, users can search for relevant footage and go directly to the moments they want to review.
Because the searches run locally on the hub, the feature does not require a cloud subscription. This approach also keeps the search process within the user’s local security setup.
For homeowners reviewing activity around entrances, driveways, gardens, or other monitored areas, the ability to locate specific events more quickly could make everyday security monitoring more convenient.
Cross-Camera Tracking and Upcoming AI Features
The Home Hub 2 is designed to do more than search individual recordings. Its Cross-Camera Tracking feature follows a detected object across multiple cameras and combines the relevant footage into a single video.
This can help users follow activity as it moves between monitored areas, providing a more connected view of an event than reviewing each camera separately.
Reolink also plans to introduce additional AI capabilities through an upcoming firmware update.
These include:
- Custom AI Detection: Designed to let users define the types of scenarios they want the system to recognize.
- AI self-learning: Intended to help the system learn user-defined situations and provide more relevant alerts.
For example, a user could configure the system to recognize a side gate left open. These features are intended to make security notifications more relevant to individual properties, although Reolink says they will arrive in a future firmware update rather than being available at launch.
Expandable Local Storage With Encryption
The Home Hub 2 offers multiple storage options for users who want to keep security recordings locally.
Its storage configuration includes a new SATA slot that supports a 2.5-inch HDD or SSD, as well as a microSD card slot supporting cards of up to 1TB.
This combination gives users flexibility to expand recording capacity according to their needs. It also reduces reliance on cloud-based storage services, which may involve recurring fees.
Reolink says the hub uses encryption to help protect recordings against unauthorized access, including in situations where a camera or microSD card is stolen.
For households that prefer to manage their own surveillance footage, the combination of expandable storage and local AI processing is a central part of the Home Hub 2’s design.
One Hub Can Manage Up to Eight Cameras
The Home Hub 2 supports up to eight compatible Reolink cameras, including battery-powered Wi-Fi, plug-in Wi-Fi, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) models.
It supports cameras with resolutions of up to 16 megapixels and uses 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.
The hub also creates its own local network. According to Reolink, compatible cameras can continue recording to the hub if the home’s internet connection goes down, helping preserve local surveillance coverage during an internet outage.
Users can manage connected cameras through the Reolink app, where they can view high-definition live feeds and recorded playback across multiple devices.
The app also includes a Regular Security Summary, which presents daily, weekly, or monthly statistics about motion-detection events. This gives users a way to review activity trends and jump directly to relevant recordings.
Camera compatibility and supported features may vary by model, so users should check Reolink’s compatibility information before connecting existing equipment.
App Controls, Time-Lapse Playback, and Custom Alerts
Reolink says the Home Hub 2 can be configured through the Reolink app in three steps. Once set up, users can manage their cameras and review footage from a central interface.
The app’s time-lapse feature can condense longer events into shorter videos. This can be useful for reviewing gradual changes, such as a sunrise or an ongoing construction project, without watching the entire recording.
The hub also features a built-in alarm center that can sound a siren when a connected camera is triggered. Users can choose from available ringtones or select a custom sound.
For additional notification flexibility, the Home Hub 2 supports sending alerts, including images, to Discord, Telegram, and Slack.
The product announcement notes that these integrations are supported, although availability and configuration may depend on the connected services and the user’s setup.
Works With Alexa and Google Assistant
The Home Hub 2 also supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, enabling hands-free viewing on compatible displays, including Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub devices.
This integration gives users another way to check camera feeds without opening the Reolink app each time.
Combined with centralized camera management and local recording, the smart assistant support helps the Home Hub 2 fit into a broader connected-home setup.
No Subscription or Monthly Fees
A key selling point of the Reolink Home Hub 2 is that its listed features are available without a subscription or recurring monthly fees.
Local AI video search, expandable storage, and centralized camera management are designed to operate as part of the user’s own security system. This may appeal to homeowners who prefer to pay for their hardware and storage rather than maintain an ongoing cloud-storage subscription.
The hub’s local network and storage capabilities also offer an alternative for users who want their cameras to continue recording locally during an internet outage.
However, users should distinguish between local recording and remote access: viewing or managing a system from outside the home may still depend on network availability and the relevant configuration.
Pricing and Availability
The Reolink Home Hub 2 is available now in the United States for $199.99.
