The reliable consumer AR products maker Rokid updated its last generation products the Rokid Max AR smart glasses and Rokid Station, challenging the likes of Apple Vision Pro and other AR smart glasses such as Xreal Air 2.
Rokid introduced a new AR Lite spatial computing package that combines the new Rokid Max 2 glasses and Rokid Station 2 host unit.
Rokid’s new AR Lite spatial computing package is armed with advanced sensors, computing, battery modules, and a significantly improved YodaOS-Master spatial operating system. These advancements ensure a seamless and intuitive spatial interaction experience, said Rokid.
Rokid Max 2 AR glasses have a similar lightweight design to the first-generation Rokid glasses, weighing just 75 grams, offering a form factor that is closer to the sunglasses. Its ergonomically optimized design offers users an unparalleled blend of comfort, functionality, and visual excellence.
For the first time, Rokid Max 2 will be available in two color options- Midnight Black and Dawn Silver so you can easily choose the color that suits your style.
The new Rokid Station 2 now comes with a premium compact aluminum alloy frame giving it a great lightweight form factor so you can easily operate with one hand. The Station 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor based on 4nm architecture to handle all the graphics rendering and AI computing-sided things efficiently. It has a massive 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
Rokid ditched the traditional physical buttons on the Rokid Station 2 and incorporated single, double, and triple-touch controls which is a welcome change.
Rokid points out key features of the Rokid Max 2 AR glasses:
- Intelligent Interpupillary Distance Adjustment: Unlike passive systems, the Rokid Max 2 introduces an active, user-initiated adjustment mechanism for interpupillary distance (IPD). This feature is accessible through a quick-access menu within the system settings, allowing users to fine-tune the field of view via software for optimal visual clarity and comfort.
- Non-Destructive Diopter Adjustment: Catering to the needs of the nearsighted population, the Rokid Max 2 offers a seamless diopter adjustment capability. This feature ensures that users can achieve clear visuals without the need for additional prescription lenses, supporting a diopter range from 0.00D to -6.00D.
- Ultra-Light Air Nose Pads: The design incorporates ultra-light air nose pads, which reduce pressure on the nose bridge by 30%. This innovation not only enhances comfort during extended wear but also addresses the common issue of discomfort associated with traditional AR glasses.
- Bendable and Soft Ergonomic Temples: The Rokid Max 2 glasses feature soft, flexible temple arms designed to conform to the user’s ear contours. This design choice ensures a snug and comfortable fit, eliminating the discomfort often caused by rigid temple arms.
Fully optimized Rokid’s YodaOS-Master operating system for a seamless AR Experience
The images showcased by Rokid suggest the brand completely overhauled the YodaOS-Master operating system and gave it a new look vastly different from the first Rokid station.
Rokid’s new AR combo will come with Rokid’s proprietary YodaOS-Master spatial computing system. The interesting thing is that Rokid AR Lite will also allow you to connect to peripherals such as Bluetooth keyboards, and Mice which means Rokid has some solid plans to make it a solid AR productivity device too.
