Verizon and Motorola unveiled the Droid 4 at CES, the thinnest and most powerful 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone available at the time, coming to Verizon stores in the weeks ahead.
Key specs: a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread (Ice Cream Sandwich update coming), a 4-inch qHD scratch-and-scrape resistant display, an 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD video, a five-row QWERTY keyboard with edge-lit keys, 4G LTE with Mobile Hotspot for up to 8 devices, 16GB onboard storage expandable to 32GB via microSD, HDMI Mirror Mode, water-repellent nanocoating, and FIPS 140-2 government-grade encryption. MotoCast enabled remote streaming from home or work computers; Smart Actions automated everyday tasks; and the webtop application enabled a full Firefox browser on a larger screen when docked. Compatible accessories included the Lapdock 100, Lapdock 500 Pro, HD Dock, HD Station, and vehicle navigation mount.
