Hot on the heels of the G2, T-Mobile announced another HSPA+ handset in the myTouch series. Designed by HTC exclusively for T-Mobile, the new myTouch ran a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor and featured a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen with Swype. Other specs included an 8GB preinstalled microSD card, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording, a front-facing camera for video chat via Yahoo Messenger or Qik, and four color options: white, black, plum, and red.
Notable features included the Genius Button powered by Dragon Dictation for voice-controlled calling, texting, email, and web search; Faves Gallery for quick access to frequently contacted people; and myModes for customized home screens. The phone also supported DLNA for wireless sharing to compatible displays, and an integrated media player. It was powered by Android 2.2.
No release date or pricing was announced, though holiday availability was expected. T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network was available in more than 65 major metropolitan areas at the time of announcement.
