TCL is using IFA 2026 to push further into the smartphone market with the new P80 Series, a three-model lineup aimed at buyers with different priorities around cameras, displays, battery life, and everyday performance.
The family includes the TCL P80 Ultra, TCL P80 Pro, and TCL P80, with the Ultra serving as the company’s most advanced smartphone to date.
TCL P80 Ultra Puts the Camera First
The TCL P80 Ultra sits at the top of the lineup and places particular emphasis on mobile photography.
Its headline feature is a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto camera with both optical and electronic image stabilization. The setup is designed for subjects that are harder to reach with a standard phone camera, including portraits, street photography, and distant scenes.
TCL pairs that telephoto camera with a 50MP main camera built around a 1/1.56-inch sensor, also with OIS and EIS. An 8MP autofocus ultra-wide camera handles broader scenes, while a 32MP front camera covers selfies and video calls.
That gives the P80 Ultra a fairly versatile camera system rather than simply adding another sensor to the back for decoration.
NXTPAPER AMOLED Expands Beyond MWC
TCL is also bringing its NXTPAPER AMOLED display technology to both the P80 Ultra and P80 Pro.
Introduced earlier at MWC 2026, the technology combines the contrast and color associated with AMOLED panels with TCL’s NXTPAPER features, which are designed to reduce glare and blue-light exposure.
The goal is a display that remains punchy enough for entertainment while being easier on the eyes during longer reading, browsing, and work sessions.
It also fits neatly with TCL’s broader display business. The company has spent years developing televisions, tablets, and smartphones, making screen technology one of the more natural areas for it to lean into.
P80 Pro Takes the Middle Ground
The TCL P80 Pro is positioned as the more balanced option in the family.
It features a 1.5K NXTPAPER AMOLED display, a versatile camera system, a 5,800mAh battery, and storage configurations reaching 512GB.
TCL has not provided the full camera specifications for the Pro in the announcement, but the combination of a higher-resolution display, substantial battery capacity, and generous storage suggests it is aimed at buyers who want many of the premium touches without necessarily stepping up to the Ultra.
TCL P80 Keeps Things Slimmer and Simpler
Rounding out the range, the TCL P80 focuses more heavily on everyday essentials.
It features a large 1.5K AMOLED display and a slimmer design, giving TCL a more accessible entry point within the P80 family.
The company has not detailed the full processor, camera, or battery specifications for the standard model yet.
Pricing and Availability
TCL says configurations, colors, accessories, pricing, and availability will vary depending on market and sales channel.
That means buyers will need to wait for regional announcements to learn exactly which P80 models and configurations will be offered locally.
The P80 Series also arrives as TCL continues building on more than two decades of experience in mobile communications, with the P80 Ultra serving as its clearest attempt yet to compete higher up the smartphone ladder.
