The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 finally made its way to the US. Nearly a full year after the first leaks and official announcements, AT&T customers could grab the X10 starting August 15 for $149.99 after rebate.
The X10 featured a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 4-inch touchscreen, and an 8.1-megapixel camera with smile detection, face recognition, autofocus, and LED flash. It shipped with 8GB of on-board memory and a 2GB card included, expandable to 32GB.
Sony Ericsson’s custom software layer included two signature apps: Mediascape, which unified music, photos, and videos from both the device and online services like Facebook and Picasa; and Timescape, which organized social interactions chronologically, pulling in Facebook and Twitter updates alongside texts and emails. The phone launched on Android 1.6, which was already outdated at the time, though it remained an attractive option for buyers looking to spend less.
