XGIMI is preparing to bring a new generation of large-screen entertainment to consumers with the launch of its AURA 3 Series. The company has opened pre-orders for the lineup ahead of a planned Kickstarter campaign, positioning the new projectors as the first UST series to combine 4K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The range is headed by the AURA 3 Max, which combines RGB triple-laser illumination, advanced optical control and AI-powered image processing to create a more immersive home theater experience without requiring a traditional long-throw projector setup.
Dynamic Dual Iris Technology Targets Better Contrast
A major feature of the AURA 3 Series is XGIMI’s Dynamic Dual Iris optical system, which is designed to precisely regulate the amount of light produced by the projector.
According to XGIMI, the technology helps produce deeper blacks, brighter highlights and greater contrast while retaining detail in darker portions of an image. The system is paired with an RGB Triple Laser light engine and the company’s X-VISION AI Image Processor to optimize image quality across movies, live sports and streaming content.
Two Models Designed for Different Viewing Needs
The AURA 3 lineup will initially consist of two models: the AURA 3 Max and AURA 3 Pro. Both share the series’ core imaging technologies, while the Max is designed to provide a more powerful experience for viewers seeking a larger and more immersive display.
With a 0.163:1 throw ratio, the projectors can produce a 120-inch image from roughly eight inches away from the wall. Their furniture-inspired exterior is also designed to sit naturally on a media console rather than looking like traditional projection equipment.
4K HDR and Filmmaker Mode Enhance the Cinema Experience
XGIMI is targeting movie enthusiasts with support for several premium picture technologies. The AURA 3 Series supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and IMAX Enhanced, helping improve dynamic range, color reproduction and image detail.
The projectors also feature Filmmaker Mode, which is intended to preserve the visual characteristics selected by filmmakers, including picture settings, colors and frame rates.
Large-Screen Entertainment Up to 200 Inches
Despite its compact ultra-short-throw configuration, the AURA 3 Series can project images measuring up to 200 inches. That gives homeowners the ability to create a large cinematic display without dedicating a room to a conventional projector.
For viewers concerned about the rainbow effect sometimes associated with laser projection, XGIMI has included Anti-RBE technology for both 2D and 3D viewing. The system also supports cinematic 3D, with two pairs of 3D glasses included.
Google TV and Harman Kardon Audio Built In
The AURA 3 Series is designed to function as an all-in-one entertainment system. Google TV is built into the projectors, providing access to compatible streaming and entertainment applications without requiring an external streaming device.
Audio is handled by an integrated 80W Harman Kardon speaker system with Dolby Atmos support, adding a more immersive sound experience to the large projected image.
AURA 3 Doubles as a Home Design Feature
XGIMI is also giving the projector a decorative role when it isn’t being used for movies or games. Its XGIMI WALL app can display curated digital artwork and wallpapers on the wall, allowing the projector to function as part of a room’s décor.
The feature is intended to transform an otherwise blank wall into an ambient display when users aren’t watching content.
