Samsung and AT&T unveiled the Galaxy Note for the US at CES, marking the first appearance of the phablet form factor for American consumers. Set to arrive “in the coming months,” it would be available in carbon blue and ceramic white, a rarity for Android devices at the time.
Key specs: a 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display (1280×800), a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with 4G LTE, 16GB onboard memory expandable to 32GB via microSD, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2500mAh battery. The integrated S Pen stylus enabled fine-detail drawing, handwriting, screen capture annotation, and S Memo for combining pictures, voice recordings, text, and drawings in a single app. The Galaxy Note also carried SAFE (Samsung Approved for Enterprise) certification, supporting MDM, VPN, and encrypted corporate email, calendar, and contacts.
