Insta360 unveils Go 3S tiny action camera with 4K support

Insta360 has expanded its Go series action camera portfolio by launching a new Insta360 Go 3S action camera in the lineup. The Go 3S action camera is a slightly upgraded version of the Insta360 Go 3, which was launched in June last year. The latest iteration brings significant internal improvements over the predecessor. However, there are no changes in the overall design, it still looks almost identical to the Go 3. It features the same tiny thumb-sized design, making it an exceptional choice for vloggers and content creators.

One of the major upgrades is that the Insta360 Go 3S now lets you shoot content at a maximum 4K/30fps video resolution. The 4K video resolution support surely makes your videos noticeably sharper, crisper, and clearer. But there’s a catch, the action camera doesn’t support 60fps in 2.7K or 1080P shooting modes, not even in 4K, which is slightly disappointing. Maybe, we’ll have to wait for the next Go series champ for 60fps support.

The 4K support brings further changes to the overall camera hardware. The Go 3S has an f2.8 aperture with a 16mm focal length and 4,000 x 3,000 (4:3) and 3,968 x 1,472 (2:7:1) photo resolutions. Furthermore, the action camera now records at 120Mbps in H.264 which is the nice bump from Go 3’s 80Mbps.

Insta360 also incorporated Apple Find My compatibility in the Go 3S, making it trackable within the network. But keep in mind that this feature will work as long as the Go 3S is switched on, once the device is switched off you can’t track it. The camera now goes more deeper, all the way to 33ft (10m), compared to 16ft on the older model.

Insta360 also added a new MegaView FOV setting which gives a more realistic look with less distortion and straighter and cleaner edges. The Slow Motion setting has been boosted to a maximum of 200fps at 1080p or 2.7k, compared to the Go 3’s maximum 1080p at 120fps. The latest slow-motion upgrades make the highlights ultra-smooth and stunning. The Go 3S can automatically detect your shooting style whether in a vertical or horizontal aspect ratio and adjusts the camera settings accordingly.

Insta360 Go 3S now captures in JPG format natively which is another welcome upgrade over the Go 3’s INSP native format, which not only saves a lot of time but also makes it easier to access the photos in every device.

Insta360 introduced higher storage models this time for the Go 3S, which is nice. The base model now comes with an upgraded 64GB storage on board while the high-end model remains unchanged at 128GB.

Despite all these impressive upgrades, the all-new Insta360 Go 3S retains the same pricing as the Go 3, isn’t this impressive? The base 64GB model is available at just $399 and the 128GB storage variant retails at $429.99. As for color options, it’s available in Midnight Black and Arctic White color options. You can now buy the Insta360 Go 3S via Inst360’s official website and other authorized retailers.
