HONOR Brings ARRI Cinema Tools and AiMAGE Imaging to Its Robot Phone

HONOR has detailed a new mobile imaging strategy built around its AiMAGE processing system, camera hardware, and partnership with cinema technology company ARRI.

Announced during the HONOR Imaging Technology Launch in Hengdian, China, the effort brings ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, and ARRI Looks to the HONOR Robot Phone. The goal is to give mobile creators access to parts of a professional filmmaking workflow rather than another bundle of camera filters.

AiMAGE Connects Hardware, AI, and Cloud Processing

HONOR describes AiMAGE as a chip-device-cloud imaging engine covering capture, processing, editing, and AI-assisted creation.

At the chip level, the company is developing a Transformer-based AI image signal processor paired with a next-generation pixel array and event-based vision sensor technology.

A speaker stands in front of a large screen displaying text in Chinese, with a dramatic backdrop of light streaming through a cave, emphasizing themes of AI and intelligence enhancement.

On the device side, HONOR referenced a titanium-alloy three-axis gimbal, precision sensors, optical components, and real-time motion-control algorithms. Cloud tools will handle RAW-domain image refinement, spatial imaging, and Imaging Agent features.

HONOR has not explained how much processing will occur remotely or what connectivity these cloud features will require.

ARRI Adds Professional Color Tools

ARRI LogC3 is designed to preserve brightness and color information for post-production. ARRI Wide Gamut 3 provides a broader color space, while ARRI Looks applies controlled visual treatments.

For experienced creators, this could make mobile footage easier to grade and match with video captured on professional cameras.

HONOR and ARRI have also formed a joint imaging technology lab. Its work will cover sensor optics, dynamic range, production workflows, and image realism in AI-assisted photography.

Filmmakers Put the Robot Phone to Work

Cinematographer Claudio Miranda used the HONOR Robot Phone to recreate a cinematic scene during the event.

HONOR also presented a short film from cinematographer Wang Boxue, who used the phone in a confined single-take production. The company says the compact device allowed camera movement in spaces that would challenge conventional equipment while retaining footage suitable for post-production.

Full camera specifications, pricing, release timing, and market availability remain unconfirmed. The Robot Phone still has a few scenes left under wraps.

HONOR Expands Its Mobile Filmmaking Program

HONOR announced the judging panel for its Magic Stories Awards 2026 competition and introduced a 48-hour filmmaking challenge at Hengdian World Studios.

Participating teams will shoot demanding sequences involving parkour, continuous camera movement, and low-angle action using HONOR’s latest imaging technology. More details can be found through HONOR’s official website.
