Pinwheel has launched Pinwheel Home, a voice-only Wi-Fi phone designed for children ages 5 to 10. The stationary handset lets kids call approved friends and family members without apps, texting, cameras, social media, or access to the web.
The device brings basic landline-style calling into Pinwheel’s family-focused ecosystem, giving younger children a way to communicate without borrowing a parent’s smartphone.
A Simpler Way for Kids to Call
Pinwheel Home uses a retro-style handset that can sit in a shared room or child’s bedroom. It connects over Wi-Fi, so families do not need a phone jack, cable provider, or technician.

The phone includes speed dial and voicemail, giving children a chance to practice basic calling skills and make plans with friends or relatives. Its voice-only design keeps the experience focused on conversation rather than another screen.
Parent-Approved Contacts and Quiet Hours
Parents manage Pinwheel Home through the Pinwheel Caregiver Portal, the same dashboard used for the company’s kids phones and smartwatches.
Only approved numbers can call in or out, which blocks unknown callers, spam, and robocalls. Parents can set quiet hours that disable incoming and outgoing calls during selected times.
All plans include 911 access. Families can later move a child to a Pinwheel Watch or Pinwheel Phone while continuing to manage each device through the same caregiver account.

“As a dad with four young children myself, I’ve seen firsthand the way kids lack some of the verbal conversation skills our generation learned much earlier,” said Dane Witbeck, CEO and founder of Pinwheel. “The goal was to encourage kids to independently make their own plans and chat with each other in a screen-free way.”
Pricing and Availability
Pinwheel Home comes in two models. The Spark costs $68, while the Classic costs $79. Both include the handset, phone adapter, and customization stickers.
Calls between Pinwheel Home devices are free through the Pinwheel Circle plan. The Friends & Family plan costs $6.99 per month and supports up to five external numbers. The Unlimited plan costs $9.99 per month and allows calls to any number.
Families with multiple paid Pinwheel subscriptions receive a 15% plan discount. Bulk pricing is available for purchases of 10 or more phones.
Pinwheel Home is available now through Pinwheel’s website and is expected to arrive on Amazon in fall 2026.
