DuRoBo Introduces Krono: An AI-Powered ePaper Hub at IFA 2025

Dutch ePaper company DuRoBo is officially bringing its Krono focus hub to a wider audience, with the device now available in both the US and UK through Amazon and the company’s own storefront. After showing up at CES 2026 and quietly building curiosity among fans of distraction-free gadgets, the Krono has moved from concept-table conversation piece to something people can actually toss into a bag and use daily.

The device lands at $279.99 in the US and £249 in the UK, targeting readers, writers, note-takers, and productivity enthusiasts who would happily trade endless notifications for a calmer digital workspace. Think of it as a minimalist ePaper companion with a little “digital notebook meets meditation corner” energy.

A Smartphone-Sized ePaper Device Built for Focus

The Krono centers around a 6.13-inch Carta 1200 ePaper display with a 300 PPI resolution. That setup is aimed squarely at crisp text rendering and comfortable long reading sessions. DuRoBo says the display uses advanced AG etching to cut glare and improve visibility in different lighting conditions, paired with an adjustable front light for nighttime or dim-room reading.

The hardware leans closer to a compact Android device than a traditional e-reader. Inside is an octa-core processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, backed by a 3950mAh battery. The company positions the device as capable of handling reading apps, writing tools, AI features, and productivity tasks without feeling sluggish.

Physically, the Krono adopts a slim, smartphone-like form factor with a matte finish and a 16:9 aspect ratio. One of the more unusual touches is the “Axis” breathing light on the rear, paired with a tactile Smart Dial that handles navigation tasks like scrolling, page turning, brightness adjustment, and shortcuts to key software features. It sounds a bit like somebody crossed an e-reader with an old-school audio knob and decided the result needed fewer distractions and more tea.

Software Features Lean Into Calm Productivity

DuRoBo built the Krono around the idea of intentional use rather than app overload. The company’s Spark tool functions as an idea capture system where users can record voice notes by long-pressing the Smart Dial. Those recordings are then transcribed and summarized using AI. Users can switch into text mode for drafting and editing written content.

Another built-in feature, Libby AI, can surface prompts, summaries, answers, and news updates directly from the home screen or through a double-press shortcut on the Smart Dial.

There is even a dedicated Music function focused on ambient soundscapes, white noise, and lo-fi audio. That puts the Krono somewhere between an e-reader, a minimalist Android tablet, and the kind of productivity gadget that quietly lives beside a pour-over coffee setup.

The device ships with full Google Play Store access, allowing users to install meditation apps, cloud storage tools, reading platforms, and other Android apps if they want to extend its capabilities.

Recent Updates Expand Functionality

DuRoBo says it has continued refining the Krono through ongoing software updates. Version 1.2 introduces a native browser app, desktop customization with pinned apps, and Korean language support throughout the system and Spark transcription tools. Korean joins English, Chinese, and Japanese language support already available on the device.

The Smart Dial now works with third-party reading apps including Kindle, Kobo Books, and Google Play Books for smoother navigation and page turning.

Previous updates added wireless file sharing through a Transfer app, adjustable reading layouts and fonts, saved Spark summaries, and a cleaner bookshelf interface. Version 1.2.1 introduced an invert scrolling option for the Smart Dial after user feedback requested it. Small tweak, big impact for anyone whose brain permanently rotates the wrong direction on scroll wheels.

Availability and Pricing

The DuRoBo Krono is available now through Amazon US, Amazon UK, and the official DuRoBo website. Pricing starts at $279.99 in the US and £249 in the UK.
