CMF Enters the Portable Audio Game with the CMF Speaker S & M

CMF has officially dropped its debut portable speaker lineup through the Nothing sub-brand, combining bold geometric design, customization, and solid audio performance. Known for bringing a distinct design language and practical durability to everyday listening, CMF’s new lineup introduces two distinct models—the ultra-portable CMF Speaker S and the larger, room-filling CMF Speaker M. Both devices share a focus on frictionless connectivity, rugged build quality, and tactile physical controls.

CMF Speaker S: The Grab-and-Go Companion

If you want music on the move, the CMF Speaker S is built specifically for travel. Designed with a compact, upright form factor, it easily slips into a bag, clips onto a strap, or hangs from a carabiner via its built-in attachment point. CMF brings its brand signature to life through swappable front panels and knobs available in White, Dark Grey, Orange, and Turquoise, and even supports standardized 3D-printable custom designs so users can make the speaker their own.

Despite its portable size, the internal hardware delivers a punchy sound. Driven by a custom-tuned 45 mm full-range driver alongside dual passive radiators, it puts out 10W RMS across a 70Hz–20kHz frequency response. Combine that with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating (rated for submersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes) and up to 18 hours of battery life (with a 10-minute quick charge delivering up to an hour of listening), and it’s built to handle outdoor beach days or hikes effortlessly.

CMF Speaker M: Scaling Up the Sound

When you need deeper bass and more volume for a room, patio, or gathering, the CMF Speaker M scales up the experience. It retains the same eye-catching geometric style and swappable hardware elements as the Speaker S, but adds an integrated handle so you can easily carry it from the kitchen to the desk or backyard.

Under the hood, the Speaker M steps up to a dual-driver, closed-box setup featuring a dedicated 25W woofer and 10W tweeter, producing 35W RMS output across 60Hz–20kHz for cleaner highs and vocal separation. Both models benefit from smart audio features like a hardware-level Adaptive Tuning algorithm, Ultra Bass, Wide Soundstage, and four Custom EQ presets accessible via the Nothing X app. They also pack modern connectivity, including Bluetooth 6.0, NFC tap-to-pair, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, dual-device connection, USB-C digital audio, and multi-speaker configurations like true L/R Stereo Mode and Auracast-based Party Mode.

Pricing and Availability

Both speakers come in White, Dark Grey, Orange, and Turquoise. The compact CMF Speaker S is priced at £49 or $50, while the more powerful CMF Speaker M retails for £99/$109. Sales officially opened on October 12th directly at nothing.tech and through select retail partners. These are interesting entry points to portable speakers from both CMF and Nothing. As usual, they bring budget friendly options with a polarizing design to their users.
