Nothing has announced the Phone (4b), a new entry-level Android smartphone launching in Japan on October 27. Priced at Â¥59,800 (approximately $400), the device brings the company’s recognizable transparent styling, Glyph lighting system, and Essential AI features to a more affordable model.
The Phone (4b) borrows design elements from the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro, pairing a polycarbonate unibody with transparent accents around the camera. It comes in black, white, and blue, with IP64 dust and water resistance.
Familiar Design With a Brighter Glyph Bar

Nothing’s signature Glyph Bar returns with 45 mini LEDs arranged across five squares, reaching up to 3,500 nits of brightness. The lighting system displays incoming notifications, charging progress, timers, and delivery updates without requiring users to turn on the screen.
The phone features a 6.77-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 2,000-nit peak brightness, and up to 1,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling.
Snapdragon Performance and a Larger Battery

Powering the Phone (4b) is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor. Nothing claims a 15% CPU improvement and 25% faster graphics performance compared to the Phone (3a) Lite.
A 5,200mAh battery, the largest Nothing has included in a smartphone, promises up to 18 hours of typical use. The phone supports 33W wired charging, reaching 50% in approximately 27 minutes.
A 4,400mm² vapor chamber helps manage temperatures during demanding activities, including gaming.
50MP Camera and Android 16 Software

The Nothing Phone (4b) includes a 50-megapixel Samsung main camera with optical and electronic image stabilization, paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. Video recording reaches 4K at 30fps, with dual-view recording available for capturing footage from the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
Nothing OS 4.1, based on Android 16, includes Essential Space, Essential Search, Essential Voice, and customizable AI-powered widgets. Nothing promises three years of Android version updates and six years of security updates.
For Japanese customers, the Phone (4b) supports FeliCa-based Osaifu-Keitai mobile payments and eSIM connectivity.
