Barnes & Noble unveiled the NOOK Tablet at $249, arriving in stores around November 17th. The successor to the NOOK Color featured a dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, a 7-inch VividView IPS display, 11.5 hours of reading battery life (or 9 hours of video), and preloaded access to Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Pandora. It weighed 14.1 oz.
Content access included Barnes & Noble’s full digital bookstore with over 2.5 million titles, interactive magazines via NOOK Newsstand, a new NOOK Comics catalog featuring Marvel and other publishers, and an expanded NOOK Kids library. The NOOK Cloud synced libraries across devices. A microSD slot allowed storage expansion.
Alongside the NOOK Tablet launch, the NOOK Color dropped to $199 and the NOOK Simple Touch dropped to $99. The NOOK Color was also set to receive a major software update in December adding Netflix, Hulu Plus, additional music services, and thousands of new apps.
