Barnes & Noble launched an 8GB version of the Nook Tablet at $199, directly targeting Amazon’s Kindle Fire at the same price. The only difference from the $249 model announced the previous November was the reduction from 16GB to 8GB of internal storage; all other hardware remained the same, including the 1GHz dual-core processor, 7-inch VividView IPS display, 11.5 hours of reading battery life, microSD expansion slot, and access to Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Pandora.
Simultaneously, the Nook Color dropped to $169.99, its lowest price ever. The 8GB Nook Tablet was available immediately at nook.com and Barnes & Noble stores, with Best Buy, Target, and Walmart to follow in coming weeks.
