NVIDIA and ZTE unveiled the Mimosa X at MWC, the first smartphone to combine an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor with an Icera modem. Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Mimosa X featured a 4.3-inch qHD display (960×540), a 5-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front-facing camera, 4GB onboard storage with microSD expansion to 32GB, A2DP Bluetooth, Dolby audio, DLNA, dual microphones, and a built-in gyroscope.
The Icera 450 modem supported HSPA+ Cat 18 (28Mbps down), HSUPA Cat 6/7, and quad-band GPRS/EDGE, all in a small footprint with integrated RF chips for lower board costs. The combination of Tegra 2 and Icera was expected to enable high-performance smartphones at lower off-contract price points, with speculation pointing to $150 to $199 before long. No carrier or launch date was confirmed; availability was expected in Q2 2012.
