XREAL has officially launched the XREAL AURA, a new pair of wired XR glasses powered by Google’s Android XR platform. Starting at $1,099 for a limited time, the glasses combine transparent displays, Gemini AI, and Snapdragon processing in a lightweight design intended for work, entertainment, and gaming.
Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, XREAL AURA is billed as the first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR. The device is available to order now, with shipments expected to begin in mid-November.
A Big Virtual Screen Without Blocking the Real World
Unlike traditional virtual reality headsets, XREAL AURA uses transparent optical see-through lenses that allow users to see their surroundings while interacting with digital content.
The glasses weigh less than 95 grams and feature a 70-degree field of view, Sony Micro-OLED displays with 1200p resolution at 120Hz, and audio tuned by Bose. Electrochromic dimming lets users darken the lenses for a more immersive viewing experience.
XREAL keeps the weight down through a split-compute design. A compact external puck houses the main processing hardware and battery, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform. The glasses incorporate XREAL’s X1S chip.
Android XR and Gemini Take Center Stage
Android XR gives AURA access to familiar Google Play apps and games, alongside more than 150 experiences developed for extended reality.
Users can arrange multiple virtual windows for productivity, watch movies on large virtual displays, or play games in their surrounding space. Gemini provides AI assistance, with support for voice and hand controls.
XREAL’s Wired Mirroring feature allows compatible laptops and handheld gaming consoles to connect over USB-C. This lets users display content from connected devices alongside native Android XR applications.
The launch catalog includes the NBA App with multiview support, Cubism, Fallout: Factions, Chess Club, and Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars.
There’s even Simply Piano XR, which combines physical instruments with digital overlays for music lessons.
Pricing and Availability
XREAL AURA is available in two configurations:
- 12GB RAM + 256GB storage: $1,099 promotional price, regularly $1,279
