Segway MUXI Pro Cargo E-Bike Adds Auto-Shifting, Suspension, and a 28 MPH Top Speed

Segway is expanding its utility e-bike lineup with the MUXI Pro, a short-tail cargo bike that builds on the original MUXI with a 9-speed electronic drivetrain, front suspension, turn signals, and a higher top speed.

Priced at $1,999.99, the MUXI Pro goes on sale September 22 in the United States through authorized Segway dealers and the company’s online store. Buyers can choose between Anthracite and Reef Blue.

Electronic Shifting And Class 3 Speed

One of the larger changes is a 9-speed electronic Auto-Shift drivetrain, which helps the MUXI Pro reach a pedal-assisted top speed of 28 mph when configured for Class 3 operation. Riders can select Class 1, 2, or 3 modes through the Segway app, subject to applicable local laws.

Power comes from a 750W motor producing 80Nm of torque, paired with a 48V, 716Wh battery. Segway rates the bike for up to 73 miles of range, though real-world mileage will vary with terrain, load, assist level, and riding conditions.

Segway’s Adaptive Assist and Algorithm 2.0 use sensor data to adjust pedal assistance as riding conditions change. Hill-Start Assist is designed to prevent the bike from rolling backward, and Hill Descent Control works with regenerative braking when heading downhill. A Traction Control System can detect wheelspin on loose or slippery surfaces.

More Comfort And Visibility

Segway has fitted the MUXI Pro with a front suspension fork offering 70mm of travel, addressing one of the areas that can make compact utility bikes a little punishing on rough pavement. Front and rear fenders now come standard.

Lighting includes a 600-lumen automatic headlight, taillight, and integrated turn signals. The bike rides on 20 x 3-inch tires and uses hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors.

The compact frame retains a low standover height, upright seating position, and low center of gravity. The MUXI Pro weighs 82.2 pounds and supports a 418-pound total payload, with a maximum rider weight of 265 pounds.

Cargo, Passenger, And Smart Features

The rear section can be configured for hauling gear or carrying another person. Segway’s new $119.99 Passenger Kit includes a seat, foot pegs, and wheel guards and supports a passenger weighing up to 120 pounds.

Existing MUXI accessories remain compatible, including the $129.99 Middle Basket and $99.99 Front Basket. The MUXI Pro works with Segway’s Xiro Automatic Dropper Post, Rearview Radar, and rearview mirror.

Technology carries over from Segway’s Intelligent Ride System. Features include Apple Find My, GPS tracking, AirLock proximity locking, Lost Mode, OTA updates, and a 2.4-inch color TFT display with navigation and ride metrics. Health and fitness data can sync with Android and Apple mobile health apps.

Some connected features require a subscription after the first year, something prospective buyers will want to factor into the longer-term cost.

The Segway MUXI Pro will be available beginning September 22 for $1,999.99. More details can be found through Segway’s online store.
