South Korean tech giant Samsung introduced its latest gaming monitor – The Odyssey 3D at Gamescom 2024. Samsung’s latest Odyssey gaming monitor uses eye-tracking and view-mapping technology to offer an optimized glasses-free 3D experience without needing separate 3D glasses.
Samsung incorporated lenticular lens and innovative light field display (LFD) technology into the Odyssey 3D monitor, which creates lifelike 3D images from 2D content. You can seamlessly switch between 2D and 3D modes based on preference. Samsung offers 27- and 37-inch screen sizes for the Odyssey 3D gaming monitor.
The 3D monitor features a 4K QLED panel and supports a maximum 165Hz refresh rate and a rapid 1ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted gameplay without any afterimages or interruptions. In terms of connectivity, it has a DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports. The monitor also comes with a height adjustment stand with tilting abilities, allowing you to set the best position for experiencing immersive 3D content.

The Odyssey 3D’s eye-tracking tech monitors the movement of both eyes using a built-in stereo camera, while the view mapping continuously adjusts the image to enhance depth perception. This is a similar type of tech found in Acer’s latest SpaticalLabs laptops and monitors.
Speaking of availability, Samsung will release the monitor globally later this year. But, Samsung hasn’t yet unveiled the pricing for the latest Odyssey 3D monitors. Looking back at the Odyssey lineup pricing, and the specs Samsung packed into this monitor suggests only one thing is that it won’t come cheap.
