Verizon waited until two days before launch to officially confirm the Samsung Fascinate. The final Galaxy S variant to get a release date, the Fascinate went live on Verizon’s website September 8 and in stores September 9 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year agreement.
Powered by Android 2.1, the Fascinate featured a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a Samsung 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor, Swype keyboard, and came preloaded with Amazon’s Kindle for Android.
Available accessories at launch:
- Charging Cradle ($29.99) – Phone charger with desktop speakerphone, Samsung Desk Home app, and one-touch access to widgets and Bing Voice Search
- Car Dock ($39.99) – Windshield or dashboard mount with turn-by-turn GPS, portrait/landscape rotation, and Car Home app
- Backup Battery Charging System ($39.99) – Includes 1500mAh spare battery and Y-cable for simultaneous phone and battery charging
