Govee’s First Solar String Lights Add Full Color to Outdoor Spaces

Govee’s First Solar String Lights Add Full Color to Outdoor Spaces

Govee has launched the Outdoor Solar String Lights, its first solar-powered product, and the company is not playing it safe with the category. Where most solar string lights top out at a fixed warm white glow, these bring full RGBICW color, Govee Home App control, and a more capable solar panel. They’re priced at $99.99 and available right now.

It’s a meaningful debut for a brand that’s built its name on color-forward smart lighting indoors. Bringing that same approach to solar is the core idea here, and the hardware specs mostly back it up.

A backyard scene at dusk featuring colorful string lights hanging above a wooden fence, with trees in the background and solar lights attached to a post.

The color capabilities come from Govee’s proprietary LuminBlend technology, which integrates chips, LEDs, and software algorithms to produce what the company claims is 281 trillion color possibilities. The more practical detail is the accuracy: LuminBlend is specifically tuned for pastels and low-saturation tones, which tend to look muddy or washed out on cheaper setups. For everyday use, the lights put out 50 lumens of soft white. Switch modes through the app and the full palette opens up for holidays, backyard parties, or a Friday evening that needed something a little extra.

The solar side is worth attention. Govee equipped these with a 6W panel instead of the 4W panels common in most competing products, resulting in 50% faster charging and up to 13 hours of continuous runtime per charge. That covers a full evening with room to spare.

“At Govee, we believe solar lighting should offer more than just basic illumination. With our new Solar String Lights, we are bringing truly colorful lighting to a category that has long been limited in expression, while also making outdoor lighting more effortless through smarter control and solar-powered simplicity.” — Eric Wu, CEO, Govee

Durability is handled through industrial-grade encapsulation on the solar panels, designed to hold up against extreme weather and chemical corrosion. The lights themselves carry an IP67 waterproof rating, and a 2-year warranty covers the full setup.

A cozy backyard setting featuring a wooden pergola with string lights, comfortable seating on a deck, potted plants, and a fire pit surrounded by stone pathways and chairs, all set against a sunset sky.
