Google is giving Pokémon fans another reason to get some sleep. The company has introduced the Google Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep, a new version of its lightweight health tracker designed to connect sleep tracking with the Pokémon Sleep mobile game.
Created as part of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebrations, the special-edition Fitbit Air combines Google Health sleep insights with Pokémon Sleep, allowing overnight rest and daytime naps to contribute directly to progress in the game.
A Fitbit Air Designed For Bedtime
The Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep keeps the lightweight, micro-adjustable design of the standard Fitbit Air, making it suitable for continuous wear, including overnight sleep tracking.
The biggest visual change is the new Sleepy Blue band inspired by Pokémon Sleep. The blue strap includes a custom silk-print label featuring a sleeping Pikachu, giving the tracker a recognizable Pokémon touch without turning the entire wristband into a Pokédex.
Google says the Fitbit Air tracks light and deep sleep stages using Google Health algorithms. The Google Health app translates that information into sleep insights, while Google Health Coach can analyze longer-term trends and provide personalized suggestions.
Purchases of the special-edition band also include a three-month Google Health Premium trial for eligible new and returning subscribers. The subscription automatically renews for $9.99 per month after the trial unless canceled.
Sleep More, Power Up Snorlax
The Pokémon Sleep integration is where the special edition gets more interesting.
Users can connect Google Health with Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iOS, then pair the device with Pokémon Sleep. Sleep duration recorded by the Fitbit Air can then sync with the game each morning.
That sleep data contributes to Pokémon Sleep’s existing progression system. Pokémon with sleep types similar to the player can gather around Snorlax, while users can study different sleeping styles and add new Pokémon to their team.
Sleep duration also helps calculate a player’s Sleep Score, which combines with Snorlax’s Strength to produce Drowsy Power. Higher Drowsy Power can result in more Pokémon appearing and increase the chances of finding rarer sleep styles.
The Pokémon Sleep integration is not limited to the special-edition tracker. Google says the experience works with all Google Pixel and Fitbit wearables capable of supporting the necessary sleep data and app connections.
Preorders Start Now
The Google Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep is available for preorder starting August 27 through the Google Store and Target, both online and in stores. Shipping begins September 15.
The special-edition band will be offered in the United States and Japan and is intended for users ages 13 and older. Google did not provide pricing for the Pokémon Sleep edition in the announcement.
Pokémon Sleep itself is available through Google Play and Apple’s App Store. For Pokémon fans already trying to improve their bedtime habits, the collaboration gives all those hours spent doing absolutely nothing a little more XP.
