DuRoBo Krono: The Pocket-Sized Android E-Ink Hub That Dials Down Distraction and Powers Up Focus

The DuRoBo Krono is a 6.13-inch Android ePaper focus hub from DuRoBo, a brand built around the idea that your reading and thinking device should help you slow down, not speed up. Priced at $279.99, the Krono positions itself as a compact, distraction-free companion for readers, note-takers, and anyone who wants a pocket-sized device that does more than just store books. If you’ve been looking for a way to reclaim some focus without giving up the flexibility of a proper Android device, this one deserves a close look.

What It Is

The Krono is a compact Android e-reader and idea-capture device. It’s not a phone or a tablet, but something in between. It runs Android 15 on an octa-core processor with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of onboard storage, which gives it the horsepower to handle the Google Play Store, productivity apps, reading platforms, and more.

The display is a 6.13-inch E Ink Carta 1200 panel at 300 PPI with a resolution of 824 × 1648, delivering crisp, paper-like text that’s easy on the eyes. At 154 × 80 × 9 mm and approximately 173 g, it fits in a pocket and doesn’t ask much of your bag. What sets the Krono apart from the growing crowd of Android e-readers is its mechanical Smart Dial, a physical rotary control that gives the device a tactile identity all its own.

Key Features

Smart Dial — The Krono’s most distinctive element is a mechanical rotary dial on the left side of the device. It supports four interaction types: single press, double press, press and hold, and rotation. Each maps to a different action depending on context — turning pages while reading, scrolling while browsing, adjusting frontlight brightness on the home screen, or launching voice capture with a long press. It’s a thoughtful physical interface that reduces how often you need to reach for the touchscreen.

E Ink Carta 1200 Display with Adjustable Frontlight — The 300 PPI Carta 1200 panel is among the sharpest available in this size class, and the dual-tone adjustable frontlight means you can dial in comfortable reading conditions whether you’re in bright daylight or a dark room.

Spark Voice and Text Capture — Spark is DuRoBo’s built-in idea-capture tool, accessible via a press-and-hold on the Smart Dial from virtually anywhere on the device. Voice mode records spoken thoughts and converts them to text via speech-to-text transcription, with an option to generate AI summaries of longer recordings. Text mode handles situations where speaking isn’t practical.

Libby AI Assistant — A double press of the Smart Dial opens Libby AI, the device’s built-in assistant for quick questions and information lookups — without pulling out your phone.

Open Android 15 Platform — Full Google Play Store access means you’re not locked into a single reading ecosystem. Install Kindle, Kobo, Libby, Pocket, or any other app that works on Android. The Krono handles it.

Axis Lighting System — Six subtle “breathing lights” on the back of the device can activate during scheduled reading reminders or focus sessions, offering a quiet visual cue to return to what you were doing. It’s a small detail, but one that reflects DuRoBo’s broader design philosophy.

Who It’s For

The Krono is built for readers who also think. People who want to capture ideas as they come can do so as it’s not just designed to passively consume content. It suits commuters, students, writers, and knowledge workers who want a dedicated device for reading and note-taking that won’t pull them into social media rabbit holes.

The compact form factor makes it a natural fit for anyone who finds larger e-ink tablets impractical to carry daily, and the open Android platform appeals to readers who refuse to be locked into a single app or ecosystem. If you’ve been bouncing between a Kindle for reading and your phone for everything else, the Krono makes a strong case for consolidating those habits into one distraction-light device.

If the idea of a pocketable Android e-reader with a physical dial, AI-powered voice capture, and a sharp 300 PPI display sounds like your kind of tool, the DuRoBo Krono is worth a serious look at $279.99. Every unit also ships with a TPU case included at no extra cost, which makes the value proposition even easier to appreciate. Head over to DuRoBo’s product page to choose your color and shipping region, and see whether this is the focus device you’ve been waiting for.
