COROS has released its September 2026 feature update, introducing several key features to its lineup of sports technology. This update highlights mapping capabilities on the PACE 4, a chronological timeline view for outdoor activities, and climb alerts for cyclists.
Global Offline Maps on PACE 4
The most notable update for PACE 4 owners is the introduction of global offline maps. Currently available in beta, this feature allows users to view the same street names, trail names, points of interest, and offline coverage that are standard on the APEX 4, NOMAD, and PACE Pro. Instead of following a simple breadcrumb line, users can see exactly where they are and make confident navigation decisions off the beaten path.
Chronological Adventure Journal Timeline
The update also brings enhancements to how users interact with their training history. The COROS Adventure Journal has been redesigned with a chronological, visually clean timeline format, making outdoor activities and memories easier to look back on. Users can share their timelines using a permanent link that does not expire. Furthermore, the update allows users to add photos and videos to their activity track, even those captured before or after the activity duration itself—such as pre-race or finish line photos.
Climb Alerts and Voice Control
For cyclists, COROS watches can now receive Climb Alerts in bike modes. This feature, which was already active on the COROS DURA, alerts users at the start and finish of each significant climb on a followed route. It displays real-time progress along with the remaining elevation gain. Additionally, beta Voice Control commands have been expanded to let users adjust activity alerts, set timers, or open navigation hands-free during an activity.
Quality of Life Improvements
Other features include a Direct Transfer upgrade that increases update speeds and allows in-app navigation during the update process. New cycling metrics, specifically Torque and Total Work (measured in kilojoules), have been added, and Left/Right power balance data can now sync with compatible third-party platforms. A battery widget also provides detailed battery usage statistics directly on the watch.
The update is rolling out to iOS and Android app stores on a rolling basis, typically reaching all global devices within a week. To access these features, users must install the app update followed by the watch firmware update.
