BOOX Go 6: The Pocket-Sized eReader That’s Big on Features, Small in Your Pocket

BOOX, a player in the ePaper device game, has rolled out the Go 6, a 6-inch eReader that’s got a lot going for it. It’s part of the BOOX Go series, featuring a paperlike display, Android OS, and plenty of features for the bookworm on the go. You can snag one from the BOOX website for $149.99 (US), €169.99 (EU), or £149.99 (UK).

The Go 6’s most talked-about feature is its Carta 1300 screen, the latest version of E Ink technology. This means darker blacks, brighter whites, and text that looks like it’s straight off a printed page. Whether you’re diving into the latest bestseller or getting lost in a classic, the improved contrast should make reading easier on the eyes.

To pair with that crisp display, BOOX includes their NeoReader app, which might be your new best friend if you’re juggling multiple document formats. NeoReader supports about 20 different formats, making it pretty flexible. From highlighting important sections to adjusting layouts, NeoReader has tools for whatever reading habits you’ve developed. BOOX has been keeping it fresh with updates, like the new firmware (V3.5.3) that lets you pick between light and dark modes. Choose between feeling like you’re reading in a calm library or the digital future.

Unlike other eReaders that keep you locked into their ecosystem, Go 6 opens the gates with Android OS. This means Google Play is ready and waiting when you power up, so you can download your favorite reading apps, browse the web, or even enjoy some audiobooks. It’s all about choice, and the Go 6 doesn’t skimp on giving you plenty of it.

Don’t be fooled by its size – this little device packs some decent hardware. Powered by an Octa-core CPU, it should handle page turns and app launches without breaking a sweat. Storage worries? Not with the expandable microSD card slot. Stuff it with books until your heart’s content. The minimalist UI is easy to navigate, and there are a few handy built-in apps like BOOXDrop and PushRead that might come in handy when you least expect it.

At 6.8mm thick and weighing only 160g, the Go 6 is as portable as it gets. Throw it in your pocket, and it’s ready to go whenever you are. Frequent flyers will appreciate the long battery life, which should last for days. No need to panic if your charger didn’t make it into your carry-on – you’ll still be able to finish that cliffhanger chapter.

The BOOX Go 6 eReader is available now on the BOOX website. And for those of you who like to see things up close, high-res images are just a click away.
