Pixel 10 Pro Fold Debuts with Gearless Hinge, Tensor G5, and Upgraded Cameras

It’s one of our favorite days of the year as Google is introducing its latest in phones and new gear. As you may already know, the Pixel 10 family of phones is here with the arrival of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Also included with the new phones, yet a bit different and unique product of its own. Indeed, Google has officially taken the wraps off the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, positioning it as the company’s most durable foldable phone to date. The device debuts with a reengineered hinge, upgraded cameras, and Google’s latest Tensor G5 processor powering new AI-driven features.

A Stronger Build and Bigger Displays

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold ditches traditional hinge mechanics for a new gearless hinge that Google says is twice as durable as the one on last year’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold. For the first time on a foldable, the phone carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, bringing it in line with the durability of Google’s non-folding Pixel 10 models.

The body is crafted from aerospace-grade aluminum and ships in two finishes: Moonstone and Jade. Google also redesigned the Super Actua Flex Display with ultra-thin glass layered with anti-impact film, rated to withstand over a decade of daily folds.

On the display front, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold offers an 8-inch inner screen—the largest yet on a foldable—paired with a 6.4-inch outer display. Both panels push brightness up to 3000 nits, making them easier to view in bright outdoor settings.

Bigger Battery and Magnetic Charging

Powering the foldable is Google’s largest battery yet in a foldable design, rated for 30+ hours of use. The phone supports faster wired charging that can hit 50% in just 30 minutes, and it debuts Qi2 wireless charging with built-in Pixelsnap magnetic tech. Accessories like the Pixelsnap Charger with Stand and Pixelsnap Ring Stand make charging and hands-free use easier whether the phone is open or closed.

AI and Performance Boost from Tensor G5

At the heart of the device is Google’s Tensor G5 chip, designed to drive both performance and advanced AI features. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold supports the same suite of AI tools as the rest of the Pixel 10 lineup, including Gemini Live, Magic Cue, and Daily Hub, as well as camera-focused features like Add Me, Best Take, and Camera Coach.

Upgraded Cameras with Foldable Tricks

Google has given the Pixel 10 Pro Fold a new 48MP main sensor as part of its triple-lens rear system. Users get closer with Macro Focus, reach further with Super Res Zoom up to 20x, and can even turn the rear cameras on themselves with Rear Camera Selfie.

A new feature called Instant View allows users to immediately preview photos on the unfolded display, reducing missed moments. It joins returning foldable perks like Dual Screen Preview, Made You Look, and Tabletop Mode.

Productivity, Gaming, and Streaming on the Big Screen

Google is pushing multitasking further with Split Screen, now letting users adjust the size of each app window. Drag-and-drop between apps simplifies moving media and files, while developer partnerships are bringing optimized gaming and streaming experiences. Titles like Asphalt Legends and Disney Speedstorm gain outer-display controller support, and services like Netflix and Disney+ have been tuned for immersive playback on the large foldable screen.
