Google’s Big Day: New Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds, and AI Health Coach Announced

Google didn’t stop at unveiling the Pixel 10 series today. The company used its stage time to expand nearly every corner of the Pixel ecosystem, from earbuds and watches to fitness coaching and charging gear. The announcements reinforce Google’s push to make Pixel not just a phone line, but a connected platform of devices and services tied together with Gemini AI.

Pixel Buds 2a Bring ANC to the A-Series

Pixel Buds 2a are the first A-series earbuds to offer Active Noise Cancellation, powered by the Tensor A1 audio chip and Silent Seal 1.5. A new custom driver and high-frequency chamber deliver richer sound than previous A-series models, while mesh covers help cut down on wind noise during calls.

They’re also lighter and smaller than before, with a twist-to-adjust stabilizer for a snug fit and four eartip sizes in the box. Battery life reaches up to 10 hours with ANC off (20 with the case) or 7 hours with ANC on. And in a practical nod to longevity, the case battery is now replaceable, a first for Pixel Buds.

The buds come in Iris and Hazel, carry IP54 sweat and water resistance, and include hands-free Gemini support for quick questions or message summaries without pulling out a phone. Pixel Buds 2a are available for preorder at $129, with general availability on October 9.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 Get Smarter

Google’s flagship Pixel Buds Pro 2 get a new Moonstone color and a feature update arriving next month. Adaptive Audio will fine-tune sound to match your surroundings, and Loud Noise Protection kicks in against sudden spikes. Gemini Live improves call clarity in noisy environments, and you’ll soon be able to accept calls or dismiss texts with a nod or shake of your head.

The Moonstone model is available for preorder today at $229, with retail launch set for August 28.

Pixel Watch 4 Expands Health and Connectivity

The Pixel Watch 4 is Google’s biggest smartwatch redesign yet. It debuts the domed Actua 360 display which is brighter, larger, and nearly bezel-free. Wearers will enjoy 10% more usable area and up to 3000 nits peak brightness. Material 3 Expressive adds more dynamic watch faces and richer color palettes, while a stronger haptic engine and louder speaker make day-to-day use more responsive.

Under the hood, the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 platform and Google’s new co-processor boost performance while cutting power use. Battery life stretches to 30 hours on the 41mm model and 40 hours on the 45mm, with 25% faster charging that gets to 50% in just 15 minutes. For the first time, the watch is serviceable, with both the battery and display replaceable.

Fitness and health tools include dual-frequency GPS for more accurate route tracking, advanced sleep analysis, skin temperature sensing, and more than 50 workout modes. Emergency satellite communication is built into LTE models, giving access to help even when off the grid. And Gemini is now integrated at wrist-raise level, making quick interactions easier.

Pricing starts at $349 for Wi-Fi (41mm) and $399 for Wi-Fi (45mm), with LTE models at $449 and $499. Preorders are open now, with release on October 9.

Fitbit Personal Health Coach Preview

Google is introducing an AI-powered personal health coach, built with Gemini, that lives inside the redesigned Fitbit app. Think of it as a mix of fitness trainer, sleep coach, and wellness advisor, with all of it tailored to your own data rather than a generic plan.

It’s meant to be proactive and adaptive. The coach will track your activity, recovery, and sleep, then adjust your recommendations in real time. It’s launching first as a preview in October for U.S. Fitbit Premium users, available across the latest Fitbit trackers, Fitbit smartwatches, and Pixel Watches.

Fitness summary showing exercise achievements for the week, including pace on intervals, planned workouts, weekly cardio percentage, and average steps.
A graphic displaying improved heart rate metrics, showing an increase in heart rate variability (HRV) from 29 ms to 34 ms, with a line graph illustrating the HRV trend over the month.
A digital sleep analysis report showing a recommendation for consistent bedtimes to improve sleep quality. It includes a summary of sleep duration, need, and a sleep score of 72, with visual graphs for the previous week's performance.
  • AI + Expert Oversight: Google says it’s building the coach with input from medical, behavioral, and sports science experts. They’ve even partnered with Stephen Curry’s performance team as part of the advisory process.
  • Personalized Training Plans: Starts with your goals, preferences, and available equipment, then builds a fitness plan that adapts week to week. If your readiness is low (e.g., from poor sleep), it will scale things back automatically.
  • Real-Time Adjustments: You can “check in” with the coach mid-week, say if you tweak a muscle, and it will adapt your plan with recovery-friendly alternatives.
  • Sleep Coaching: Uses new algorithms for more precise sleep tracking, spotting patterns across the week. It can suggest schedule tweaks, like adding recovery sleep after a tough workout or helping you adjust after jet lag.
  • Holistic Health Insights: Beyond workouts and sleep, it considers inputs from your Fitbit or Pixel Watch (and even other apps via Health Connect or HealthKit) to give personalized advice on stress, recovery, and daily wellness choices.
  • Contextual Q&A: You can ask it direct questions like, “Should I get more sleep or exercise tomorrow?” or “What’s a good workout if I’m feeling stressed?” and get science-based, individualized answers.

Pixelsnap Accessories Introduce Qi2 Charging

Pixel 10 devices are the first major Android phones with Qi2 wireless charging, and Google is launching Pixelsnap accessories to match. The Pixelsnap Charger (with or without a stand) delivers up to 25W charging for Pixel 10 Pro XL and 15W for other Qi2 devices. A Pixelsnap Ring Stand provides a magnetic kickstand for hands-free viewing, while new Pixel cases are all Pixelsnap compatible.

For those who prefer cables, the Pixel Flex 67W Dual Port USB-C Fast Charger intelligently prioritizes Pixel phones while charging another device simultaneously. Pixelsnap gear is available for preorder today, with retail launch on August 28.

A Cohesive Pixel Experience

From affordable earbuds with ANC to a smartwatch that talks to satellites, today’s lineup shows Google weaving Gemini deeper into its hardware. Whether you’re charging up, working out, or tuning out the noise, the Pixel family now covers more ground than ever.
