Pixel 10 Lineup Unveiled: AI on Tap, Pro Res Zoom, and Seven Years of Updates

First it was the Nexus line of phones which lasted six years. Then it was the Pixel’s time to shine. Today, we find ourselves ten years into that series. A decade already in the books.

Google is marking ten generations of its Pixel phones with the launch of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. The new lineup introduces a refreshed design, next-gen Google silicon, and deeper integration of on-device AI, positioning these devices as the most personalized and proactive Pixels to date.

Design with Purpose

The Pixel 10 family refines Google’s signature camera bar while introducing Pixelsnap, a built-in Qi2 wireless charging system compatible with new magnetic accessories. The devices are also Google’s most sustainable yet, made with more recycled materials than any previous Pixel.

All models debut Material 3 Expressive, Google’s latest UI layer that adds springy animations and smoother interactions. With seven years of Pixel Drops plus OS and security updates, Google says the phones are designed to stay secure and fresh well beyond their launch cycle.

Pixel 10 comes with a satin metal frame, polished glass back, and four color options: Obsidian, Frost, Indigo, and Lemongrass. Its 6.3-inch Actua display tops out at 3,000 nits, while improved audio brings stronger bass for streaming and entertainment. It also marks the first time a standard Pixel includes a 5x telephoto lens with 10x optical-quality zoom and up to 20x Super Res Zoom.

Pro Models Push Further

The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL bring the most premium design touches, larger batteries, 16 GB of RAM, upgraded speakers, and faster charging. The Pro XL goes a step further with 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging support. Both models include Google’s brightest Super Actua displays and the company’s best triple-camera system yet, offered in Obsidian, Porcelain, Moonstone, and Jade.

A standout upgrade is Pro Res Zoom, exclusive to the Pro models, which uses a generative imaging model running on the Tensor G5 to capture detail at up to 100x zoom. According to Google, it’s the largest AI model ever used on Pixel Camera and aims to deliver the highest-quality smartphone zoom on the market.

Hardware and Performance

At the center of the Pixel 10 lineup is Google’s new Tensor G5 chip, co-designed with DeepMind. It’s the biggest leap in Pixel silicon since Tensor’s debut, promising faster performance and unlocking the latest on-device generative AI features through Gemini Nano. The chip is paired with upgraded memory and storage configurations, with the Pro models stepping up to 16 GB of RAM for smoother multitasking and heavier workloads.

The displays have also seen notable upgrades. The standard Pixel 10 carries a 6.3-inch Actua display rated at 3,000 nits peak brightness, while the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL step up to Super Actua panels for even more vivid viewing. The Pro XL stretches to 6.8 inches, catering to users who want maximum screen real estate.

Battery life should get a boost as well, thanks to larger cells across the board. The Pro models also benefit from faster wired charging, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL adds 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging, a step up in the wireless standard. All three devices support Pixelsnap, Google’s new Qi2-based wireless charging system with magnetic accessories like stands and rings.

On the audio side, Google has reworked the speaker setup for deeper bass and clearer output, making the phones more capable for streaming and gaming. Combined with stronger haptics and the satin-finish metal frame, the devices aim for a more premium in-hand feel.

The camera hardware reflects some of the biggest upgrades. Pixel 10 introduces a 5x telephoto lens to the standard model for the first time, supporting 10x optical-quality zoom and up to 20x Super Res Zoom. The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL take things further with a triple-camera array and Pro Res Zoom, which leverages AI to intelligently refine detail up to 100x zoom.

Smarter Software, Deeper AI

The Pixel 10 lineup is built around Google’s newest software intelligence, running on the Tensor G5 chip and the Gemini Nano AI model. These upgrades power Magic Cue, a proactive system that integrates across apps like Google Messages and the Phone app. Instead of waiting for prompts, it surfaces the right details at the right time, like automatically displaying flight info pulled from email during an airline call or fetching photos mid-chat when a friend asks. All of this runs privately on-device, with Tensor G5 handling the AI workload.

On the photography side, Google is adding tools that make the camera feel more like a teacher than a button. Camera Coach offers real-time tips on framing and composition, designed to help less experienced photographers capture stronger shots without trial and error. For power users, the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL introduce Pro Res Zoom, an AI-driven system that intelligently reconstructs fine details at extreme zoom levels. With Tensor G5 and a new generative imaging model working together, the phones can deliver sharp results at up to 100x zoom.

The software polish extends to the interface itself. The official debut of Material 3 Expressive introduces smoother animations and greater personalization, giving the phones a more fluid, dynamic feel. Combined with seven years of promised Pixel Drops, OS, and security updates, Google is positioning the Pixel 10 series as devices that won’t just age well, but they’ll keep getting smarter.

Pricing and Availability

The Pixel 10 series is available to preorder now starting at $799 for the Pixel 10, $999 for the Pixel 10 Pro, and $1,199 for the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Pro buyers will also receive a one-year subscription to Google AI Pro. Retail availability begins August 28 through the Google Store and partner retailers.

More information, including full availability details, can be found on the Google Store.
