ESR Gear make exceptional accessories for many Apple and Android products. The company has a large lineup of new charging stations around MagSafe and Qi2. We’ve been testing the latest edition of these with the new ESR 100W 6-in-1 Charging Station. I’ve been putting this charger thru the paces over that last few weeks, and I’ve come away thinking this may the best multipurpose desk charger you can buy.

Design

As the name would imply, the ESR 100W Charging Station has capability to support up to six devices charging simultaneously. This includes the MagSafe/Qi2 phone pad, Apple Watch, Qi earbuds deck, two USB-C ports, and one USB-A port. The unit does have ESR great CryoBoost system, which turns on a fan for the MagSafe charger while pushing the full 15W to an iPhone to help keep things cool.

The ESR 100W is a fantastic build quality. It has some plastics, but mixed with the metal stands for the wireless chargers, lends a solid feel to the entire casing. On the bottom of the charger is a nice soft, rubber feet pads to help keep this unit planted on any surface.

Performance

The day-to-day of the ESR 100W charging station is fantastic. Having the additional ports on the side has really freed up space in my office. Being able to charge my Apple watch, earbuds, and iPhone at eaches fast charging rate and still having bandwidth for charging my laptop, tablet, or other USB-A device makes this more than compelling.

Each port has ESR’s Smart Power Distribution as well. This means while the total output is 100Watts, the station takes notice of what is plugged into every output. For instance if you just plug in a laptop capable of the 100W it will use full power to that single device. However, with multiple devices, it spreads the outputs accordingly.

Let’s break this down further. If you have a watch and earbuds at 5W along with an iPhone at 15W, that means you’re using 25 total Watts of the allotted 100W. Then, if you plug in an accessory in each remaining port, you have 75W to deliver to those devices. The guide below shows some more examples of this, but it’s a great way to utilize all that power on a per usage basis.

Pricing

The ESR Gear 100W 6-in-1 Charging Station is $180 full retail and is only available in white colorways. While this is beyond an impulse purchase, when you consider the amount of chargers this replaces, it’s more than justified. Each one of these outputs are at least $20 when packed separately and most of those are never going to reach to wattage of the ones found in a single package from ESR.

Vivo introduced its next-generation book-style foldable smartphones – Vivo X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro. Vivo sets a new benchmark by making it the world’s lightest foldable phone, weighing just 219 grams. It is 12 grams lighter than the previous record holder Honor’s Magic V2 foldable. However, the Magic V2 still holds the slimmest book-style foldable title which is just 3mm when folded. 

For the first time, Vivo also introduced the Pro variant alongside X Fold 3. The foldable is built on second-generation silicon materials and a carbon fiber hinge which makes it an extremely lightweight smartphone than several well-known book-style foldable smartphones including Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 which weighs 253 grams and the OnePlus Open, which weighs 245 grams. 

The Vivo X Fold starts at 6,999 Yuan ($970) while the higher-end Vivo X Fold 3 Pro retails at 9,999 Yuan ($1,385). Both smartphones are now available for purchase in China. However, there’s no word on international availability. 

Vivo X Fold 3 features a 6.53-inches OLED cover screen and the internal screen measures at 8.03-inches. Both display has a 120Hz refresh rate support that ensures a smooth scrolling experience. Vivo went with last year’s announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor for the Vivo X Fold 3 paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. It runs on Vivo’s signature Origin OS 4 out of the box. 

As for lenses, the smartphone has a trio of 50MP cameras on the rear and a 32MP camera on the front. It boasts a massive 5,500mAh battery that easily squeezes a day-long juice. Vivo also offers an IPX4 water resistance rating but has no rating against dust. 

On the other hand, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro seems like will remain to be China-exclusive. Speaking about the specifications, it is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, has a duo 50MP camera paired with a 64MP telephoto lens, and a large 5,700mAh battery with support for 100W fast wired and 50W wireless charging support.
