OpenAI now allows anyone to use its most popular AI chatbot ChatGPT without an OpenAI account. “We’re rolling this out gradually, with the aim to make AI accessible to anyone curious about its capabilities”, OpenAI said in a blog post.
Since its 2022 release, the chatbot gained a tremendous amount of popularity, and interested users have had to sign up to use it for free. Creating an OpenAI account brings a bunch of benefits such as the ability to save and review chat history, share chats, and unlock other additional features like custom instructions and voice conversations.
The firm also introduced additional content safeguards for this experience,” including blocking prompts and generations in a wider range of categories. However, the firm hasn’t mentioned what these categories are.
This only applies to the ChatGPT, as other OpenAI products such as DALL-E 3 still require an OpenAI account to access it. Furthermore, OpenAI said more than 100 million people use ChatGPT weekly.
