Ugreen Revodok Max 213 Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station Review

Ugreen is one of the best brands for PC and mobile accessories in the market right now. The company churns out fantastic value and quality in their products. I’ve recently been testing the new Ugreen Revodok Max 213, and it’s an impressive addition to the Ugreen lineup. The 13-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 docking station is an awesome way to add more peripherals to your desktop setup in a single device.

Design

The Revodok Max is built like a tank. The entire chassis of the dock is made from metal and has a good heft to it when you take it out of the box. This also lends to pretty decent thermal controls to allow the unit to stay cool. The build quality here is exceptional and immediately evident.

Enough of the fawning over Ugreen’s design; let’s get to the meat of the internals and I/O options. The included power adapter is capable of a full 180 watts of output, which should be plenty for almost any workspace and peripherals.

The front of the Revodok Max has most of what I’d call the casual inputs/outputs. Here, you’ll find the power button at the top and several ports below. This includes a USB-C capable of 20W of power and transfers of 10Gbps, two USB-As with 10Gbps, a microSD card slot, a full-sized SD card slot, and finally, a 3.5mm auxiliary audio jack.

Now, let’s move to the rear for an even larger and more full-featured array of ports. Here you’ll find the upstream Thunderbolt 4 port meant to be attached to your PC. This literally powers the downstream options we’ll cover next in a single port, pushing that data or display to the others.

Next, you have two Thunderbolt 4 ports for other options like monitors, SSDs, or general power. Just above these TB4 ports is a DisplayPort 1.4 output for monitors. To the left of this, are two USB-A ports with 5Gbps, Ethernet RJ45 jack for networking, and the dedicated power port for the 180Watt adapter. I can’t imagine anything most users are missing here other than possibly a dedicated HDMI monitor output.

Daily usage and performance

I have yet to find something the Revodok can’t support as advertised. My setup includes dual monitors, two USB-powered printers, and multiple SSD/peripherals over USB-A. The Thunderbolt 4 abilities just continue to take in any input or output and chug along.

This is true of all three major operating systems in my house, with no additional drivers required. macOS, Linux, and Windows “just work” each time I plug in a Thunderbolt capable laptop or desktop. Each computer just recognized all the major offerings for expansion found in the Revodok 213 Max. 

I’m happy to report that this docking station from Ugreen features a normal Ethernet jack. The RJ45 port is capable of up to 2500Mbps. This is auto negotiated with the host to confirm the maximum transfer rates it can handle, and the Revodok Max then amps up the internet connection accordingly. I’ve seen this be very consistent with my usage, and I’m getting my max connection from my internet provider via the jack.

Lastly, the metal design does a fantastic job of keeping the unit cooled. Even with the full 180 Watts of power pumping through the docking station, I never found it to be warm to the touch. This is a nice feature to have be considered in the overall design language, as many docks can get how or require a dedicated fan.
