JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition Headphones Review

JLab is recognized as one of the pioneers in the wireless accessory market as the company has been making Bluetooth-connected devices for over two decades. The latest premium option from JLab is the Epic Lux Lab Edition active noise-cancelling headphones. We took these for a spin for usage over a month to help shape this review. Since the name is such a mouthful, and for the sake of brevity, I’m going to refer to them as the Epic Lux headphones.

Design and Comfort

JLab’s design team has achieved a perfect harmony between the classic over-ear headphone look, user comfort, and internal tech innovation. I found the more oval ear cups particularly appealing, making the Epic Lux surprisingly compact and easy to store. This smart design choice allows you to slip them into a bag or backpack without hassle, while their distinct shape helps them stand out in a crowded market.

Comfort is clearly a top priority here, and the Epic Lux nails it. The headband and ear cushions are luxuriously padded, offering a plush, comfortable fit even during marathon listening sessions. They can get a bit warm after a while, but the premium materials ensure they never feel uncomfortable. Despite their solid build, the headphones are well-balanced on the head, avoiding any awkward pressure points.

Another thoughtful touch is the inclusion of a touch control area. The right ear cup features volume controls with a play/pause, forward/previous, and volume nestled in the middle via swipe gestures. A dedicated power button provides a satisfying click when powering on or off. Just below these controls, you’ll find a USB-C charging port for when you need an audio break to top of the battery.

On the left ear cup, the layout is similar but simpler. This side of the Lux is completely void of buttons, with just a JLab logo, but you’ll find out why in the battery section later in this review. Overall, the Epic Lux design speaks volumes about JLab’s attention to detail, balance, and build quality.

“The JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition delivers impressive noise cancellation, all-day comfort, and rich sound quality—proof that premium listening doesn’t have to come with a premium price. Whether you’re commuting, working, or unwinding at home, these headphones provide a seamless audio experience that fits into any lifestyle.”

Sound Quality

At the heart of any headphone is its sound, and the Epic Lux doesn’t disappoint. The audio performance is genuinely impressive and more than holds its own against bigger brands. Noise cancellation is solid, effectively muting much of the surrounding environment. While it might not reach the absolute pinnacle of ANC technology, it handles itself admirably even in moderately noisy settings.

Straight out of the box, the Epic Lux delivers a rich and well-rounded sound profile that most users will appreciate. For those who prefer a custom audio experience, the JLab app provides an easy way to tweak EQ settings and fine-tune the sound to your liking.

Battery Life

One of the perks of the larger over-ear form factor is more room for battery capacity, and JLab makes excellent use of it. The Epic Lux promises up to 60 hours of playtime with ANC on and a remarkable 90 hours with ANC off. Endurance is key for any wirelessly connected device, and runtimes like this positions the Epic Lux at the top of the market.

A close-up view of JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition active noise-cancelling headphones resting on a charging dock, showcasing their sleek design and materials.

Not only does the USB-C power port available when you do run out of power, the Epic Lux Lab Edition has a unique charging solution included in the box. This comes in the form of essentially a MagSafe charging puck. The left ear cup has a magnetic inductive charging cover that when paired with the charger makes for seamless wireless charging.

Final Verdict

For under $200, the JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition packs an incredible punch. With excellent noise-canceling, a comfortable and durable design, long battery life, and vibrant sound quality, they’re a serious contender in the ANC headphone space. If you’re looking for a premium listening experience without a hefty price tag, these headphones are an outstanding choice.

Entering the premium ANC market comes with plenty of competition. JLab had to bring its “A-game” to make the Epic Lux Lab Editions compelling, and the company seems to have met that expectation.

JLab’s Affordable Work Accessories Bring Pro Features Home

JLab has been around for what seems like forever in mobile tech accessories, constantly evolving to meet the demands of an ever-changing market. The company has been making consumer-facing audio and peripherals for years, building a reputation for quality and innovation.

You may not be aware, but JLab also has a more professionally-focused portfolio under the Work lineup, specifically designed to enhance productivity and comfort in various work environments. With a range of versatile products, you, or your team, can easily level up your desk space with these offerings, turning any workspace into a hub of creativity and efficiency.

From clacky keys to crisp calls, JLab’s Work lineup proves you don’t have to overspend to upgrade your desk with gear that’s actually built for work

In this article, I’ll showcase three standout devices that exemplify JLab’s commitment to delivering functional and stylish solutions tailored to meet the needs of professionals.

JLab Flow Wireless Mouse and Ergonomic Keyboard Combo

At the heart of any professional workspace has to be the keyboard and mouse. The Flow combination is a nice mix of ergonomic design and modern features. The Flow keyboard has the most going on with a mechanical key layout with short travel between keys and integrated cushioned palm pad to limit fatigue. The keys are the more deep “clacky” styles you remember from middle school, but make for a very tactile feedback.

That doesn’t mean the overall setup for the Flow combo is stuck in the past. You have a modern edge when it comes to custom AI key and the media knob. The Flow keyboard and mouse are designed to be used with multiple operating system. You can switch from up to three devices with a quick press of a button.

I also really enjoyed the integrated media knob for controlling music and videos. A turn of the knob lowers or increases the volume, while a press of the knob pauses or resumes playback. Other keyboards offer functionality like this with keys, but they are normally hidden behind a Function combination. Having a dedicated hardware option has been a nice touch from JLab on the Flow keyboard.

The Flow mouse is more simplistic, but offers an ergonomic design of its own. It has the same OS switching buttons on the bottom, and has a familiar layout of buttons you’d expect on a wireless mouse. One addition button I’ve enjoyed over my older Dell has been the pointer speed button just below the scroll wheel. It’s a small tweak, but nice to have, as some operating systems have slower defaults than others.

This new JLab Flow keyboard and mouse bundle won’t break the bank, either. At just $60, you’d be hard to find a better bargain.

JLab Work Buds In-Ear Headset

After text inputs with a keyboard and mouse, I can’t think of a more crucial option in today’s work environment than audio and microphone inputs. JLab has released the Work Bud In-Ear Headset to make sure your next online conference call is a success. This combination of wireless earbuds and dedicated mic boom, take these conversations to the next level versus your laptop’s internal options.

The Work Buds overall design is the “bullet” style in-ear headsets you see from many OEMs these days. This alone would make for a competitive communication device, but JLab has taken it one step further to make sure you are always heard. Included in the system is a removable microphone boom that can be attached to either earbud.

The JLab Work Buds offering this additional input method makes calls crisp and clear. Having the boom be modular in design to be used on either the right or left earbuds is a great option as well. While I don’t personally have a preference, I can see others being frustrated if this was dedicated to a single earbud.

The Work Buds have exceptional runtimes for just $80 (Amazon) as well. With six total hours per charge, and up to 55 hours of total playback from the charging case, you have a fantastic remote work audio solution. When you do need to charge the case and Work Buds, all you need is the included USB-C adapter and wall adapter.

JLab Go Talk USB Microphone

Sometimes you need even more clarity in audio input than even the Work Buds can offer. To make sure JLab still has you covered, the company has the JLab Go Talk USB Microphone. Whether you just want better call quality or you need a serious option for recording your latest podcast, this mic can help you out.

The JLab Go Talk is wrapped in a stylish canvas shell and fits into any desk space aesthetics. This mounts onto a sturdy, metal stand that allows for several angles. The Go Talk is a plug-in-play device as well. No software needed to get any of the major operating systems to recognize it as an input device.

It also comes with a welcome amount of actual knobs and button. No need to fumble with capacitive touchpoints or software controls dashboards to tweak this microphone to your liking. This includes a volume and gain control knob that can be pressed to mute the microphone completely. Just below this is a second knob that switches between a directional recording mode called Cardioid or a more full spectrum mode called Omni.

With full 24-bit depth and 96Khz sample rate, the JLab Go Talk USB microphone is a fantastic option for fifty bucks.

Why Telegram Is Becoming The Hub For Mobile Crypto Gaming

0

Telegram was founded in 2013. Its popularity grew as users of other messaging services became increasingly concerned over security and privacy issues. By the end of 2024, the app had approximately 1 billion users and it continues to see increased use.

It still trails WhatsApp for sheer user numbers, but Telegram is becoming more of a super app than a simple messaging app, giving users the ability to add apps within the app. It already has cryptocurrency integrated into the platform, as well as a decent roster of Telegram games.

Telegram Gaming

Another feature of Telegram is the ability to install third-party apps, including games. Some online casinos offer in-app bots that enable players to play a variety of popular casino games like crypto blackjack via Telegram.

Telegram already has cryptocurrency integration, which enables players to deposit and withdraw cash using Bitcoin and other major cryptos. Blockchain’s use to develop Telegram also makes it the ideal platform for NFT-based trading and battling games.

These games mimic a lot of the features and functionality of popular trading card games like Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering, but with the added benefit that NFTs are digital collectibles that carry real-world value. Players can buy and sell the cards they need while being able to store them on the platform they play on.

Enhanced Privacy And Security

Telegram enjoyed early success thanks to its simple design and intuitive interface. It has continued to add new users and increase its user base thanks, in part, to its high levels of security and privacy, but also in part due to increased privacy concerns from WhatsApp and Instagram users. These individuals have gone looking for alternative platforms to use as details of WhatsApp’s data collection practices and its vulnerability to malware exploits.

Users do need to manage their security settings to ensure they enjoy the most secure experience, but Telegram offers two-factor authentication and it provides end-to-end encryption for secret chats. While some messaging apps are considered to be politically swayed, users believe this is less likely with Telegram.

Instant Play Games

Telegram games work directly from the Telegram app. As such, they do not need to be installed on the user’s device. One of the benefits of this is that games are instant play. Players don’t even need to close the Telegram app and open another app to get started.

It also means less hard drive or storage space is required. While flagship and expensive mobile devices can include substantial storage space, not everybody has the latest Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPhone models, which means storage space can be limited.

Installing dozens of games quickly clogs up mobile phone hard drives, causing phones to run sluggishly, apps to open slowly, and potentially leading to apps and games interacting with one another and causing crashes and other software problems.

Responsiveness

Telegram games are designed to be lightweight enough that they can run in the app. Developers know that players are going to be running games on cell phones and other mobile devices, and they optimize them accordingly. The app itself is also considered quick, and it offers lightning-fast messaging: this is considered especially impressive when you factor in the inclusion of a crypto wallet and other features.

The games themselves are not installed on the user’s device but via Telegram. Any updates are rolled out via Telegram, too, which means no checking for and downloading updates or installing recent versions. This also means that devices don’t run slowly while automatic updates run or while games are updating the latest security patches.

Simple Interface

One of the reasons that Telegram gained so much popularity so early in its development was its simplistic design. Even as Telegram has added more features and internal apps, it has retained its simple interface. Users aren’t overwhelmed when they start the app but they can access their games and other app features without having to dig through layer upon layer of menus.

Once you have a few games installed on a mobile device, it can be difficult to remember what they’re called, never mind where they are and whether they are played through another platform. While messaging apps are generally designed to be easy to use, this isn’t necessarily true of gaming platforms and other mobile device software.

Simple To Use

Most Telegram games are best described as screen tappers. These are the most popular forms of mobile games because they can naturally be played using nothing more than a mobile device. The games themselves are easy to learn and developers come up with intuitive but innovative ways to offer in-game controls.

There’s no need to use external controllers. Typically, you don’t even need to try and use the on-screen joystick that some games rely on.  Overall, Telegram games are simple to get to grips with, especially compared to the potentially baffling array of controls and keys needed to play PC games. You don’t even need to be able to hook the mobile device up to a TV, like you do with a game console.

Cryptocurrency Integration

Telegram creator Durov also created The Open Network (TON), which is a layer-1 blockchain network. Telegram now uses TON for various elements of its infrastructure. It is used for mini apps and telegram stars, and the app primarily offers the use of TON coin, which is the native coin of the network.

Although there were originally plans to use TON to launch a cryptocurrency, this was prevented by the SEC and plans were shelved. With the SEC under new stewardship and Trump’s alleged crypto-friendly stance, this may change. However, Telegram may opt not to challenge the current status quo of a partnership that has attracted a billion members.

Another way blockchain is heavily entrenched in the Telegram platform is through the offering of an integrated cryptocurrency wallet, called the Telegram Wallet. The wallet can be used to store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies including TON as well as BTC. Cryptocurrency is popular with casino websites, other gambling websites, and a host of online games like Hamster Kombat.

Natural Community Building

Telegram is a messaging app that offers additional features. It can be used for text, audio, and video chat, and these communication features, along with the app’s other features mean that it naturally offers an efficient and effective means of developing a community.

Games, especially competitive and multiplayer games, benefit from developing communities of keen players because it encourages competition and gets people to log on and play more often. Other community features include polls, quizzes, noticeboards, and more.

Tech-Savvy Users

Telegram is generally favored by a relatively young and tech-savvy crowd, which is the same crowd that is more likely to understand blockchain, use cryptocurrency, and play Telegram games.

However, with a billion users, the app’s popularity is clearly spreading to other demographics, and the range of Telegram games available means that it appeals to players of all types of games, from simple crypto dice games to more advanced strategy games.

Motorola Adds Style and Smarts to Its Wearable Lineup with Moto Buds Loop and Moto Watch Fit

0

It’s a big day for Motorola as the brand debuts a trio of new models in its iconic razr line. But that’s not all the company has for consumers today. Indeed, it’s also expanding its accessory ecosystem with two new additions: the moto buds loop, the brand’s first open-ear earbuds, and the sleek new moto watch fit.

Both products are designed to seamlessly sync with Motorola devices, while offering broad Android compatibility and standout design touches, including a sparkling debut collaboration with Swarovski.

Moto Buds Loop: Open-Ear Audio with a Luxe Twist

The moto buds loop step away from the in-ear norm, offering an open-ear design that combines ambient awareness with premium sound. Featuring Sound by Bose tuning and 12mm ironless drivers, the buds deliver clear, spatial audio that keeps users connected to their surroundings without missing a beat or a bass drop.

Motorola is also turning up the style dial with Pantone-curated colors, including Trekking Green and French Oak, and an optional crystal-studded edition in collaboration with Swarovski. The latter blends technology with fashion, giving the buds a jewelry-like finish for those who want their tech to sparkle.

They’re more than just eye candy, though. With moto ai integration, users can issue voice commands to check notifications or record meetings completely hands-free. CrystalTalk AI helps filter out background noise during calls, and Smart Connect lets users switch effortlessly between Motorola and Lenovo devices. Battery life is rated for 8 hours on a single charge, with an additional 29 hours from the case, and the water-repellent design means a little sweat or rain won’t be a problem.

Moto Watch Fit: Designed to Move

For users who want their smartwatch to look as good as it performs, the moto watch fit brings a 1.9” OLED display housed in an ultrathin aluminum frame, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The screen cranks out 1000 nits of brightness, making it easy to check stats even in direct sunlight.

With 100+ workout modes, built-in GPS, and sleep tracking, the watch covers fitness and wellness from all angles. It’s also IP68 and 5ATM water resistant, meaning it’s just as comfortable in the pool as it is at the gym. Motorola claims up to 16 days of battery life on a single charge.

Customization is baked in: users can swap out 22mm bands, including matching Pantone colorways, or create personalized watch faces with moto ai. Integration with the moto watch app allows for detailed tracking and data syncing, and the watch supports remote camera and music control when paired with Android phones.

Availability

The moto buds loop are set to roll out in select markets this summer, with the moto watch fit following in the coming weeks.

Motorola Reinvents the Flip Phone with AI-Powered razr Ultra, razr+, and razr

0

Motorola is turning the page on foldables once again, unveiling a fresh lineup of flip phones for North America. With the debut of the motorola razr ultra, motorola razr+, and motorola razr, the brand blends bold design, smart AI experiences, and serious performance into a three-tiered family that caters to power users, creative pros, and anyone chasing that perfect blend of style and substance.

A Smarter Flip with moto ai

At the heart of the new razr family is moto ai, Motorola’s evolving AI assistant that does more than just take commands. It proactively offers up summaries of missed notifications, transcribes conversations on the fly, and makes contextual suggestions with features like Catch Me Up, Remember This, and Next Move. Whether you’re meal prepping or planning a trip, your razr is now your planning partner.

Exclusive to the razr ultra, a new AI Key offers quick access to moto ai, while stand and tent modes enable hands-free interactions. All three devices also support Gemini and Gemini Live, keeping users connected to Google’s own AI toolkit for writing help, planning, or just talking things out.

Flagship Performance Across the Board

Each model in the lineup targets a different slice of the market:

  • razr ultra: Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, it’s the most powerful flip phone in the world, featuring industry-first on-device AI and a triple 50MP camera setup.
  • razr+: Built on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, it brings flagship-level performance, camera power, and multitasking muscle at a more approachable price.
  • razr: As the first flip phone with a MediaTek Dimensity 7400X chip, it delivers impressive AI improvements and battery life without breaking the bank.

Built to Fold… and Last

Durability gets a serious upgrade across all models, thanks to a titanium-reinforced hinge plate, new Ultra Thin Glass, and IP48 water and dust resistance. The razr ultra’s external screen also boasts Corning Gorilla Glass-Ceramic, promising the best drop performance of any razr yet.

On the design front, Motorola is going bold. The razr ultra is the first smartphone ever to feature Italian Alcantara and FSC-certified wood finishes, each paired with curated Pantone colors like Scarab and Rio Red. The razr+ follows with leather-inspired textures in Midnight Blue and Pantone Mocha Mousse, while the razr offers playful options like Parfait Pink in lightweight acetate.

Cameras That Know What You Want

Motorola’s most advanced camera systems live in the new razr family, anchored by moto ai’s Photo Enhancement Engine and Signature Style learning. From group shots and action photos to air gestures and adaptive stabilization, the razr ultra leads with a triple 50MP setup, while the razr+ and razr bring their own high-res imaging power with ultra-wide, macro, and telephoto capabilities.

Big Batteries, Fast Charging

With battery sizes ranging from 4000mAh to 4700mAh, each model promises all-day use and then some. Motorola also delivers the fastest flip phone charging to date with up to 68W TurboPower (razr ultra), 45W (razr+), and 30W (razr). All models support wireless and reverse charging for added flexibility.

Expanding the Moto Ecosystem

The razr relaunch also comes with two new wearables: moto buds loop and moto watch fit. The open-ear moto buds, featuring sound by Bose, are Motorola’s answer to premium comfort and audio, while the watch fit keeps you connected and on track with your health goals.

Availability and Pricing

  • motorola razr ultra: $1,299.99 | Pre-orders begin May 7 at Best Buy, Amazon, and motorola.com; general availability on May 15.
  • motorola razr+: $999.99 | Same pre-order and release schedule.
  • motorola razr: $699.99 | Broad carrier availability starting May 15, including T-Mobile, Verizon, and more.

Canadians can expect similar availability on motorola.ca and local carriers. The moto buds loop and moto watch fit will arrive later this year, with pricing to be confirmed.

Journey ALTI-Play Charging Desk Mat

Our latest device review is the new ALTI-Play Charging Desk Mat introduced by the brand Journey Official. This innovative desk mat is crafted to enhance modern workspaces by seamlessly integrating wireless charging capabilities with a refined aesthetic. The mat features a built-in charger that supports multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets, and other QI-enabled devices, making it a versatile solution for tech-savvy users.

Charge Your Phone and Earbuds in Style

The ALTI-PLAY desk mat effortlessly combines wireless charging with a sleek, modern design, offering a clutter-free workspace while keeping your devices powered. With customizable LED lighting and a stable, smooth surface, it’s the perfect blend of functionality and style for any tech-savvy user.

One of the standout features of the ALTI-PLAY desk mat is its ability to charge multiple devices simultaneously, which is particularly useful for individuals managing several gadgets. The charging pads also come with multicolor LED trim, providing an ambient lighting effect that can be customized to suit different moods and preferences. This adds an element of personalization while also serving as a visually appealing feature in a workspace.

The mat incorporates buttons that allow users to control various settings, such as adjusting the LED light colors and brightness. This feature ensures that the mat can adapt to different lighting needs, whether for work, relaxation, or entertainment purposes. You’re not lacking in charging power, either. The phone puck is MagSafe and Qi2 compatible with full 15 Watts of output. The same is true for the earbuds deck, with 5W of charging there.

Stable, Sleek, and Functional

Underneath, the mat is equipped with a rubber underside, ensuring it remains stable on any desk surface. This aspect is crucial for maintaining a neat and organized workspace, as it prevents any unnecessary movement or sliding caused by frequent usage. It creates a very stable seating for the mat once you lay it down. I never once thought it was going to slip around while working.

Additionally, the surface of the mat is designed with a fine weave material, offering a smooth texture that is comfortable for extended use. It makes for a very mouse-friendly environment in a larger format. You shouldn’t need a mouse pad while using the ALTI-PLAY desk mat. The one downside of the black sheen is that it can hold dirt and dandruff from daily use. I’ve gotten in the habit of taking a lint roller to it every few days.

Final Thoughts

Journey’s ALTI-PLAY desk mat is part of a broader trend in tech accessories that blend functionality with design. The next-gen charging desk mat by Journey is designed to cater to the needs of modern users by combining wireless charging functionality with sleek design elements. Its ability to charge multiple devices, customizable lighting features, and stable construction make it a valuable asset for any workspace, enhancing both productivity and aesthetic appeal.

At $130, you’ll have to somewhat want this specific setup, but the combination of features makes it compelling. If you’re already in the market for a multi-device charger of some sort, that’s most likely setting you back between $60 to $80 for a good model. Adding in the large desk mat and seamless design makes this worth the price tag in my mind.

Google Fi Wireless Turns 10 with New Plan, Expanded Perks, and Global Coverage Upgrades

0

Google Fi Wireless is marking its 10th anniversary by rolling out a fresh Unlimited Essentials plan, boosting data allowances across existing plans, expanding international 5G coverage, and dishing out time-limited promotions that include major device discounts.

A New Entry-Level Plan: Unlimited Essentials

Headlining the update is Google Fi Wireless’ most affordable unlimited plan to date. The new Unlimited Essentials tier costs $35/month for a single line and includes unlimited calls, texts, and 30 GB of high-speed data in the U.S. It’s designed for users who want core connectivity without the extras, ideal for budget-conscious individuals or families keeping it simple.

More Data, Same Price: Upgrades to Standard and Premium Plans

Current subscribers to the previously named Simply Unlimited, now called Unlimited Standard, get a solid boost: 50 GB of high-speed data (up from 35 GB) and a generous 25 GB of hotspot tethering (up from 5 GB), all at the same $50/month price. It also maintains access in Canada and Mexico and full smartwatch connectivity.

Comparison of Google Fi Wireless plans highlighting Unlimited Premium, Unlimited Standard, and Unlimited Essentials with details on pricing and features.

On the higher end, Unlimited Premium (formerly Unlimited Plus) now includes 100 GB of high-speed data, 50 GB of hotspot tethering, and access to data in 200+ international locations. It still costs $65/month for one line and comes with perks like YouTube Premium (six months free), 100 GB of Google One storage, and seamless tablet and laptop connectivity without extra fees.

Better iOS Support and International 5G Expansion

Fi’s updates aren’t just about pricing. The carrier is now supporting data-only eSIMs, allowing easy activation for tablets and laptops without needing a physical SIM card. That makes it easier for users with eSIM-compatible iPads and Android tablets to stay connected independently.

Google Fi Wireless is also more than doubling its international 5G reach, now spanning 92 countries, and adding support for 5G on iPhones. For frequent travelers or digital nomads, that means stronger, more consistent global connectivity.

Additionally, iPhone users can expect smoother messaging thanks to RCS adoption and can soon access voicemails directly through the Phone app rather than the Fi app.

Anniversary Deals: Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Watch 3 Included

To celebrate the milestone, Google Fi is offering attractive device promotions. New customers can get a Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Watch 3 essentially free, $300 off the Pixel 9 Pro at checkout and the remaining $699 as monthly bill credits, along with $100 off the Pixel Watch 3 and $349 credited over time. The promotion is available through April 29 or while supplies last.

Current customers aren’t left out either; they’ll find exclusive discounts on the Pixel 9 lineup when logged into their Fi account.

TCL D1 Fingerprint Smart Lock Delivers Speedy Access and Smarter Home Security

0

TCL continues its foray into the smart home space with the launch of the TCL D1 Fingerprint Smart Lock, a feature-rich device designed to streamline everyday life while keeping your front door secure. With a focus on fast access, privacy-first data handling, and seamless smart home integration, the D1 positions itself as a strong contender in the ever-expanding category of smart door locks. The new model joins the previously announced D1 Ultra and D1 Pro which made their debut at CES earlier this year.

Fast, Touch-Based Entry in 0.3 Seconds

A woman using a smartphone in a cafe, showing the TCL D1 app interface, alongside another woman approaching a front door with a smart lock.

At the heart of the D1 is its standout speed. The fingerprint sensor unlocks the door in just 0.3 seconds, meaning you can go from juggling bags to stepping inside with one touch. It’s a practical solution for households that don’t have time to dig for keys, or patience to wait.

Privacy-First Design with Local Data Storage

TCL isn’t asking users to trade security for convenience. The D1’s access logs and fingerprint data are stored locally, not in the cloud. That means your information stays with you, not on someone else’s server. This approach reduces risk and aligns with growing concerns around data privacy in connected devices.

Auto-Locking and Entry Notifications

Smart features continue with an auto-lock function that engages as soon as the door closes, no manual checks needed. The lock also supports real-time alerts, keeping users informed about door activity. Whether someone’s heading out, coming in, or trying their luck when they shouldn’t, you’ll know right away.

Voice Control with Alexa and Google Assistant

The TCL D1 integrates with Alexa and Google Assistant, enabling hands-free control. Users can lock the door, check its status, or initiate access using simple voice commands. This makes the D1 a good match for homes that already lean into voice automation, or for anyone looking to keep their phone in their pocket more often.

Built to Handle Real-World Conditions

Durability is another key piece of the puzzle. The D1 is rated IP54 for dust and water resistance, and operates in temperatures from -25°C to 70°C. Whether it’s a snowy Midwest morning or a steamy southern afternoon, the lock is built to handle the elements.

Availability

The TCL D1 Fingerprint Smart Lock will be available soon through authorized retailers and online platforms. More details can be found on the official Amazon product page.

CUKTECH, part of the Xiaomi ecosystem, has introduced the CUKTECH 15 140W GaN Charger, a compact but high-powered charging hub aimed at professionals, power users, and multitaskers alike. Available now on Amazon, this flagship charger retails for $99.99, with a limited-time 40% discount using the promo code “AD1404US.”

Fast, Flexible, and Surprisingly Compact

Built around next-gen PD 3.1 technology, the charger delivers up to 140W of output, or enough to power a MacBook Pro 16” M3 Pro to 55% in about half an hour. Thanks to GaN (gallium nitride) internals, it accomplishes this without the bulk traditionally associated with high-wattage bricks. At just 3.11 x 2.56 x 1.26 inches and weighing 11.8 ounces, it’s 20% smaller than Apple’s own 140W charger and fits easily into backpacks, desk drawers, or even a roomy coat pocket.

One Charger, Four Ports, No Fuss

Designed with convenience in mind, the CUKTECH 15 features four ports that can charge a laptop, tablet, phone, and smartwatch simultaneously. That makes it a natural fit for commuters, digital nomads, or anyone tired of juggling multiple wall warts. A 4.9-foot, 240W USB-C cable is included in the box, and a foldable plug rounds out the travel-friendly package.

Smarts Under the Hood

CUKTECH’s proprietary ADC2.0 power management system keeps tabs on temperature and battery status to optimize output for each connected device. Whether you’re charging one gadget or all four ports at once, the charger maintains stable, safe performance without overheating.

Broad Compatibility

The CUKTECH 15 isn’t picky about your gear. It supports a wide range of devices and charging protocols, including PD, PPS, QC, FCP, and SCP. Compatible hardware includes the MacBook Pro and Air, Dell XPS, HP Spectre, iPad Pro, iPhone 16/15/14 series, Samsung Galaxy S23/S22, Google Pixel, Steam Deck, and more.
