Not only was I searching for a unique option in this space, I was looking for something specific. I used a Pixel Tablet on my desk as a small media device for almost two years before my purge to all Apple devices. As an incentive for local play, in-person Max Battle participants will earn extra Premier Balls and experience points. That said, the remote option opens the door to more strategic planning and coordination for players on the go… or on the couch.

Updated Limits and Event Bonuses

To support the expanded access, Niantic is raising several limits:

  • The daily Remote Raid Pass limit will increase from 5 to 10.
  • Max Particles, which are required for Max Battles, will now cap at 1,500 (up from 1,000).

For select events, these limits may go even higher. On May 24, for example, the Remote Raid limit will temporarily jump to 20, offering a full day of nearly non-stop battling for those looking to power up their teams.
