How to Check Your Android Battery Health

Mobile devices have become necessary in modern life for staying in contact with friends and family and being able to call for help in emergencies. They have also become one of the primary ways to buy groceries, play games, take photos, listen to music, stream movies and TV, and have easy access to services like banking.

Because of this, making sure you leave the house with a full charge is one of the most important things to do. But did you know that even a full charge on a smartphone is no guarantee that you will enjoy optimal performance?

The Importance of a Strong Battery

Over time, the capacity of a rechargeable battery will diminish, meaning that a full charge on an older device will not last as long as a newer one. In most cases, we learn how long our batteries last and adapt to them, but having a strong battery is important for many important tasks.

One of the most obvious reasons that battery health is important is to ensure you can use your device in emergencies. But there are other scenarios when a strong battery can make a massive difference. Consumers who enjoy online betting will find that a strong battery and signal will be essential to good gameplay.

Online gambling expert Pride Kazunga explains that online casinos have provided a great option for US consumers who are limited by state laws. Offshore operators allow legal gambling opportunities on high-quality, secure sites. In some cases, consumers may find operators with no sign-up required. This helps improve anonymity and protects consumers’ personal information. However, a failing battery in the middle of a gambling session could end up costing the player a lot of money.

Progressive slot games allow players to win life-changing sums of money from relatively small stakes. But players must continue their session to win big. The idea of having to abandon a potentially lucrative game because of a failing battery is not something a bettor would want to contemplate.

How to Check the Health of Your Android Battery

Checking battery health can help consumers learn when it is time to replace the battery or if their device has seen better days, and upgrade to a new one.

Android Battery Health Check from Settings Menu

You can typically check your battery health by visiting your settings app and selecting the battery section. Depending on the device you use, the information might not be immediately available, and if it isn’t, you can click through to the battery usage section. This will show you the last 24 hours of battery use and which apps have been draining the most power.

From here, you will be able to disable the app or optimize your settings to get the most from the battery. Some settings will also show the battery temperature, and you should be looking for it to be below 50 degrees Celsius.

Android Battery Health Check Using a Dial Code

Hidden diagnostics on Android phones can be accessed by inputting predefined sequences of asterisks, hashes, and numbers into the dial pad. Different sequences will give the user access to different menus, and entering *#*#4636#*#* into your phone should give you access to your battery information.

A menu should appear that gives you a battery option where you can check the battery health, charge level, and temperature. Unfortunately, this is not a foolproof technique, and in some cases, the battery information will not be displayed if the user is locked out of this section.

Android Battery Health Check on Samsung Phones

Samsung device owners can use the dial code to try or access the Samsung Members app available on their phones. Users should enter the app that has been installed by default on all devices. From there, they can select the ‘Get Help’ tab that appears at the bottom of the menu. A new menu will appear, and users should then select the option that says ‘Interactive Checks’.

A new menu will appear with a battery option that will take you through to a screen that rates the battery power, life, and capacity.

Android Battery Health Check Using Battery Health Apps

Third-party apps are also available for Android users who want to check the status of their battery. MacroPinch’s ‘Battery’, CPUID’s ‘CPU-Z’, and Digibites’ ‘AccuBattery’ apps are all good options that will let users check the temperature, usage, and capacity of their batteries.

Users can choose from free or premium options of these apps, with premium services removing ads and unlocking additional features that might be useful.

Replacing a Battery

If you have accessed your battery’s information and it is clear that it is no longer able to perform to a high standard, you might consider replacing it to extend the life of your device. Older devices are typically easier to replace batteries on, with new models often having more integrated systems that have batteries as permanent parts that are fixed in place.

Specialist tools are available for people to replace batteries, but seeking the advice of an expert is advised. Replacing a battery may also void the warranty of a device, but if the battery is at a stage where it needs to be replaced, this may have already expired.
